Pete Alonso Rookie Cards Guide and Top Prospects List
Pete Alonso rookie cards quickly caught on with collectors based on an impressive start to his MLB career. The rising slugger for the New York Mets has the Big Apple and the hobby in general taking notice.
After a few years of college ball with the Florida Gators, Pete (or Peter, or Pete the Polar Bear) was taken 64th overall by the Mets in the 2016 MLB Draft. His first baseball cards came that same year.

It took a few more years to work his way through the minors, but Alonso made his Major League Baseball debut on MLB Opening Day in 2019. That means the official Pete Alonso rookie cards are in 2019 baseball card boxes. Although he missed out on the first few sets of the year, his RC options are plentiful during the summer and fall portion of the MLB card schedule. Alonso put the exclamation point on his record-setting season by winning the 2019 NL Rookie of the Year award.

2019 Panini Immaculate Collection Pete Alonso Autographs
While Alonso has rookie several autographs in 2019 Immaculate, he is surprisingly absent from the main RPA set. Another negative is that all the cards feature sticker autographs.
2019 Panini Leather & Lumber Pete Alonso RC #151 Autograph #/149
2019 Leather & Lumber Baseball is the place to find the first pack-pulled Pete Alonso rookie card autograph. Signed on a baseball-like surface, this trapped signature card is limited to 149 copies. More striking is the Rookie Signatures Black Gold version, numbered to 25, that features a black baseball and gold ink.
Many of the rookie players have three different options in the base rookie autograph set, but Pete has just this card.

Pete's flagship rookie finally arrived in 2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball. An ongoing issue for Alonso is the Pete vs. Peter inconsistency on his cards. The hard-signed 1984 insert autograph in S2 opts for Peter.
In addition, a smaller base version comes in 2019 Topps Mini Baseball.
Alonso also has exclusive variations in the Topps Baseball Compete Set lineup. This includes a normal image variation and a Chrome version.
2019 Topps Update Series Pete Alonso
While his flagship rookie came in Series 2, Topps released several subset options for Alonso in 2019 Update Series. This includes Rookie Debut, Home Run Derby and All-Star Game cards.

The online-exclusive 2019 Allen & Ginter X is virtually the same except the card stock is black and the autograph is signed in silver ink and numbered to just 25 copies.

The initial pack-pulled Pete Alonso rookie card arrived in 2019 Big League. The card is placed in the checklist as a variation to the main #20 card for Matt Carpenter.

As far as Topps sets, not much can match the sheer number of Pete Alonso rookie cards found in 2019 Heritage High Number. Naturally, there is a standard base card, which is very inexpensive. He also has multiple Heritage variations, including a "Polar Bear" nickname card, plus a Chrome version. And there's a hard-signed Real One Autograph.

Christmas fans have the seasonal 2019 Topps Holiday. While it borrows the Series 2 look, the festive update includes holly leaves and berries for the frame, plus white background artwork. Alonso also has two image variations. The SP version applies colorful lights to his bat and the Super Rare edition shows the top of his new reindeer socks.

At just two per case, the rookies in 2019 Tribute are not easy pulls. For some reason, Topps continues to number them as inserts rather than part of the base set. Alonso also has on-card autographs in the main TA set and League Inauguration.

2019 Triple Threads Baseball has another premium rookie option for Alonso. The busy design boasts an on-card autograph and a trio of small jersey relics. Alonso is in the main Rookie Autographs insert, as well.
2019 Topps Now Pete Alonso RC #12 (PR=2,040)
Available right after his debut, Pete's earliest card with the RC logo came in 2019 Topps Now MLB. The on-demand card sold just over 2,000 copies in 24 hours. The card notes both his initial appearance and first hit with the Mets.
Issued a few days later in honor of his first MLB home run, Alonso's #32 card adds low-numbered autograph versions.
Alonso was also part of the 2019 Topps Now Home Run Derby set. This is notable since he won the event. Topps randomly awarded 50 bonus autographs to collectors who bought his HR Derby card.

However, the clear favorite among Pete Alonso cards is his Chrome Draft Pick Autograph, also found in 2016 Bowman Draft. The hard-signed card is the preferred choice and has seen a meteoric rise in value and demand. An ungraded Orange Refractor parallel, numbered to 25, sold at auction for $4,550 in April 2019.
2016 Elite Extra Edition Pete Alonso #64 Autograph
Although no match for Bowman, 2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball has a few of the top Pete Alonso cards, as well. His main autograph adds a signature to the base design along with numbered Status and Aspirations parallels like the red die-cut below.
Less common is the College Ticket card from 2016 Panini Contenders that is issued as an insert in EEE.

Are you saying the main RPA for any player are generally worth more than inserts like this Alonso insert Rookie Silhouette? Just curious because the true RPA’s are # to 99 with lower # parallels for a total card count of over 100. I did a quick count of the Rookie Silhouette and the total count for these even counting the lower numbered parallels is somewhere around 60. You would think lower print run, more valuable. Your thoughts?

Yep. The main rookie autograph that is numbered into the base set normally bests any autographed insert from the same set. This has long been the case. Rarity matters but the “true rookie” can matter more.
