User Rating:

Staying with the hit-only MLB format, 2019 Topps Five Star Baseball promises two autographs in every Hobby box.

Per Topps, "Five Star Baseball is back with a new high-end design and premier checklist that guarantees 100% on-card autographs of the game's best Major League players."

As was the case in 2018, the only exception to the hard-signed rule is the cut signature cards.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Autographs

The 2019 Topps Five Star Baseball checklist showcases top current stars and rookies, as well as retired greats. This includes the on-card Five Star Base Autograph line with as many as 80 subjects.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Cards 3

Low-numbered parallels give collectors a rare rainbow to chase.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Base Autograph Parallels

  • Purple - #/50 or less
  • Blue - #/25 or less
  • Green - #/15 or less
  • Gold - #/10 or less
  • Orange - #/5 or less
  • Red - 1/1

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Cards 4

The Five Star Dual Autograph cards are limited to 10 copies or less.

In addition, case-hit Golden Graphs and Silver Signatures display bold ink colors that really pop. These add Purple (#/25), Blue (#/20), Green (#/15), Gold (#/10), Orange (#/5), and Red (1/1) parallels.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Cards 5

The Five Star Signatures set is capped at 20 copies or less and some cards have an extra inscription.

New to 2019 Topps Five Star Baseball is the Pentamerous Penmanship autograph insert, numbered to 25 or less, that uses a shadowbox design.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Cards 6

Another debut option is the Five Topp Phenom Autograph set for various MLB standouts. These are numbered to 25 or less with a one-of-one Five Star parallel.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Cards 7

The rare Cut Signature and Celebrity Cut Signature cards for non-baseball subjects are also one-of-one editions.

2019 Topps Five Star Baseball Autograph Relics

Finishing off the premium hits in 2019 Topps Five Star Baseball, the Five Star Autographed Jumbo Patch cards, numbered to 25  or less, make a big impression thanks to the large swatch and on-card signature. The auto-relic cards come in Gold (#/10), Silver Rainbow (#/5), Laundry Tag (1/1), Majestic Patch (1/1), MLB Silhouetted Batter Logo Patch (1/1), and Team Patch (1/1) versions, as well.

User Reviews

  1. I hope they spell Mike Trout’s name correctly in the actual product

  2. Most of the autographs are worthless no names, and once again more of the same just dressed differently. And celebrities? This is BASEBALL, not Hollywood. When I buy a baseball product, I do not want celebrities. I will have to pass because of this. False advertising, once again, just like redemptions (which are actually just IOUs and ought to be illegal).

  3. Say what? Dude did you read the checklist? Saying ‘most are no names’ is absurd. and there are only 10 total celeb cards. And its not like they are numbered to 99. You’re aren’t passing because no name players, celebs or friggin false advertising (give me break). You just cant swing getting some boxes, risking pulling nothing to flip and you want to b**** about it. Go chase some kids off your lawn. THis looks like a blast.

  4. Where Bryce Harper in either a Nationals or Phillies Uniform Autograph Cards, oh I get it he goes to a lesser known team and is erased from having any cards in this product.

  5. Last year on release day..
Breakers broke and got the top 4 rookie card red 1/1 autos..
the result – was that the pack price for the product plumetted… lol

watched a bunch of Breaks online today on multiple websites.. and not one red 1/1 pulled..yet..
in fact – apart from a nice Judge Jeter dual redemption — most of the rest was pretty bleh
if you assume a base set auto is not a hit.. then there would be 4 hits (ie gold silver penta and other per case)
also not a cut auto seen in all online breaks viewed as well

  6. Ohtani Red 1/1 hit on Blez Breaks at 2:30pm today..
not an RC – but still valuable

  7. Can anyone explain to me why no one can sign their name so it can be read? It seems to me it would be more work to scribble their name the same way every time than to write it properly. Is it to keep crooks from using their name for nefarious reasons? Mantle, Mays, Aaron and even illiterate Shoeless Joe Jackson learned to sign his name.

  8. Watched six case breaks online and some at our local. For my two cents, five boxes were horrible you might get $25.00 back if you were selling two boxes were okay and only one box per case did you get any card of true value. Topps being the only licensed product keeps piling more and more crap in their products valuewise. Cards are super nice looking but for the price, just buy singles off eBay and save your money.

  9. The base set filler cards kill this product..
saw a case opened had 4 hits
    Khris Davis Golden
    Rafael Palmeiro Silver
    Torii Hunter patch auto
    Barry Larkin 5 star sigs

3 other boxes had coloured base
    Purple Purple Blue
    Blue was Josh James

other nine cards were regular base
one pack with 2 base had Danny Jansen and Reese McGuire – both jays catchers.. not sure who the pack hit is supposed to be there..
best auto was Jose Ramirez ..not saying a lot…
my point is that TOPPS wants to advertise that you will get good cards but they pool those ones together for Breakers to get monster boxes and everyone else gets royally shafted…
they are not caring about the collectors that helped make their business – willing to literally steal their money and give pennies on the dollar value

  10. Here is some Five Star Math for you

using the Dual Auto cards as the estimation for total amount of product made..
    there are 140 total dual auto cards (12X10 + 4X5) at 1 in 167pack — means than approx 140 X 167 = 23380 packs made so at 2 cards per pack = 46760 total CARDS made.
    25% are numbered inserts – about 11700
and approx 8162 are colored base auto cards – (#d 50,25,15,10,5,1)
note some signors would not sign for all colors.
    leaves 26900 in non-numbered base
understanding that some base signors did not sign reg no color versions — assuming 75 did
    26900 divided by 75 = 359 signed each
so even if you get a base RC auto – there are probably only 360 ish of each of those..
thats very low when you consider that just the Topps Chrome refractor sigs by themselves are numbered to 499 — not even considering all the base and other colored version quantities of those.

So even a base non-numbered auto is way more rare than just about any other RC card made out there.
buying these cheap off ebay is not a bad idea at all.

  11. Can I rate this a zero? Games best Major League players, huh? I got Victor Robles and Bryse Wilson, extremely disappointing

  12. bought 4 boxes got 3 Bob Gibson autos sold for average of $13
