Upper Deck Young Guns: Rise to Rookie Card Glory
Over the course of 20-years, Upper Deck's Young Guns series has taken many shapes, forms and detours on it's way to becoming one of the hobby's most popular rookie cards. The first ever Young Guns appeared in 1990-91 Upper Deck Hockey and were highlighted by Sergei Federov and Pavel Bure. Then after the 1992-93 hockey card season, the Young Guns series disappeared for several years only to resurface in Upper Deck's budget brand 1995-96 Collector's Choice following the 1994-95 NHL Lockout.
After two less than spectacular season's in Collector's Choice, the Young Guns series disappeared yet again. Several years later, the much maligned series was given a second chance in 1999-2000 Upper Deck Hockey. Since then, Young Guns has evolved into one of the hobby's best non-autographed rookie cards. Below is the story of Upper Deck's Young Guns series told through the cards themselves.
