2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey CardsBrand: Upper Deck Hockey
2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey takes another crack at NHL cardboard done in the flagship design. While hits aren't found in each box, there is a solid mix of inserts to track down in addition to the new rookies.
The ePack version is expected to release around one month after the main set.
2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Base / Young Guns
Tacking on 250 new cards to the overall flagship checklist, 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey includes 198 base cards, three checklists and 49 Young Guns (1:4).
Base set Photo Variations are especially tough at 1:1,000 packs.
The normal parallel trio includes Clear Cut (Base - 1:96; YG - 1:288; Hobby), Exclusives (#/100) and High Gloss (#/10).
There are also new UD Canvas cards split into several subsets. The lineup consists of 89 Veterans (1:8), 29 Young Guns (1:48), 15 Retired Stars (1:192) and 15 Team Canada Program of Excellence (1:192) cards. UD Canvas includes one-of-one Printing Plates, as well.
2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Inserts
Inserts remain a huge part of 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. Rookie standouts are heavily featured, including the Hobby-only Rookie Breakouts (#/100) highlighting 20 stars on acetate cards.
UD Portraits Rookies cards fall 1:6 packs overall, with Gold Foil (#/99) and Platinum Blue Foil (#/25) parallels. Shooting Stars Rookies is much tougher at 1:360 packs. These cards have even more limited Red (1:1,440) editions.
There is also the rookie-driven Fluorescence, which is available in Gold (#/150), Blue (#/50), Green (#/15) and Magenta (#/5) parallels.
Of course, Upper Deck remembers the reigning champs in the second batch of Day With the Cup for eight players from the St. Louis Blues' 2018-19 team. These rare cards average 1:1,000 packs.
As many fans know, UD uses Series 2 to clean up the missing names from earlier sets. That's where O-Pee-Chee Update comes into play. Since 2019-20 OPC releases in September, there are many new players to add, especially rookies.
