Russell Wilson Card in 2014 Bowman Baseball
Get ready Seattle Seahawks (and Texas Rangers) fans, because 2014 Bowman Baseball features Russell Wilson.
The quarterback's rookie cards are among the hottest in the hobby. But his first cards actually came from the diamond. A former fourth round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies, Wilson found himself on the 2010 Bowman Draft checklist. The Rangers took Wilson in the Rule 5 draft in December. And while it's unlikely that he will ever play serious professional baseball again, it gave Topps a chance at offering a new card.
The card maker made the announcement via Twitter back in January, several months before the set came out.
Wow! @Seahawks @DangeRussWilson will have a limited # of @Rangers Prospect cards in '14 Bowman Baseball! Check it out pic.twitter.com/GVNCbxEbN8

The card is a rare short print, which further fueled buzz (and prices).
