Russell Wilson's emergence as a standout quarterback in Seattle is one of 2012's major stories. While he gained hobby love the moment he was the surprise pick as the Seahawks' starter to kick off the 2012 season, it was a late-season surge that set the hobby on fire. Now, having won a Super Bowl in just his second season, Wilson finds himself on the similar level as the year's other two big rookie quarterbacks, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. Well, maybe not quite as high as Luck, but certainly in the same ballpark.
For collectors, that means prices have soared for Russell Wilson rookie cards and inserts. When the first 2012 football card sets arrived, collectors could find Russell Wilson autographs for under $20. He was a third round pick. Expectations were low for the two-sport star. Despite it being little more than a scribble, all of his high-end cards and autographs have taken off. Several low-numbered parallels and inserts have topped four figures.
Wilson's phenomenal rookie season carried over to 2013. The Seahawks were strong out of the gate and never let up, capping the season with a lop-sided victory over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. And while it's debatable as to whether Wilson is the key to Seattle's success, he is definitely an important weapon on a team that's strong in a lot of key areas.

His collecting origins began with winter bike rides to the corner store, tossing a couple of quarters onto the counter and peddling home with a couple packs of O-Pee-Chee hockey in his pocket. Today, he continues to build sets, go after inserts with cool technologies, chase Montreal Expos and finish off his John Jaha master collection.
i just a bit skeptical about this kid..pete carrol prepares well and he was a step ahead of other coaches…the real Seahawks are the team that played away from home…everyone knows the second time around is the real test..just look at cam newton…the seahawks winning season will make thier schedule much tougher next year..to me hes a Doug Flutie in the making at best…i would never spend more than 40-50 dollars for his better cards…..hes short and defences will be ready…I think Cam Newton will have a better carrer cause hes built like a football player with all the tools..and i respect Doug Flutie i thought he was a great competitor
