A (seemingly) long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, Star Wars trading card sets used to deliver on-card autographs at every turn. 2001 Topps Star Wars Evolution, 2002 Topps Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Widevision and 2004 Topps Star Wars Heritage are some of the key sets to include hard-signed cards on their checklists. Then came the stickers and it seemed like there was no turning back. 2014 Topps Star Wars Chrome Perspectives Autographs turn back the clock, offering the franchise's first on-card signatures in near a decade.
The 2014 Topps Star Wars Chrome Perspectives Autographs checklist has a total of 16 cards. Big names include Mark Hammil (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and James Earl Jones (Darth Vader). Oh, yeah, there's Harrison Ford (Han Solo) too. The set also has many past signers with smaller roles, but the move away from stickers offers something different.
Basic autographs are inserted 1:91 packs. There are also Gold Refractors (1:1,062 packs), Printing Plates (1:2,300 packs) and one-of-one Superfractors (1:11,000 packs).
2014 Topps Star Wars Chrome Perspectives does have one autograph that uses stickers, but it's likely that many will complain. It's a triple autograph with Fisher, Hammil and Ford. Topps has confirmed the card's print run at five. It is a redemption, as is the basic Ford autograph. Triple Autographs are inserted 1:36,500 packs.
