Once again exclusive to Walmart, 2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball offers collectors a shiny take on the top MLB rookies and prospects.

Basically the same as the 2017 set, the release comes in three different formats. There are Fat Packs and Value blaster boxes. Collector boxes are the most premium choice, with two autographs in each. Each format contains exclusive parallels.

One major error is for Gleyber Torres as his Top Prospect base cards and autographs both show Ronald Torreyes.

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball Base / Inserts

The 100-card base set is combined with 100 Top Prospects to form a 200-card lineup.  Every card has Ice Pattern Foil (Value), Sky Blue (Fat Pack), Purple (#/250), Blue (#/150), Green (#/99), Orange (#/25 - Collector), Red (#/10) and FoilFractor (1/1) parallels. Collectors can also be on the lookout for 10 Image Variations.

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball inserts include Platinum Presence for current stars, top rookies and future greats. Prismatic Prodigies is just for the budding prospects, while Rookie Revelations highlights RC standouts on a dual-image design. The second-overall pick in 2017, Hunter Greene is even treated to his own insert line via the 10-card Hunter Greene Short Prints.

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball Autographs / Relics

The 2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball checklist also promises multiple signature options. The Top Prospect Autographs set has base autos plus Blue (#/150), Green (#/99), Ice (#/50), Orange (#/25 - Collector), Red (#/10) and FoilFractor (1/1) versions.

2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball

In addition, the 80-Grade Prospect Autographs line identifies some of the very best prospects, and the Platinum Cut Autographs set uses a gemstone die-cut shape to really stick out.

Bringing some memorabilia into the mix, Platinum Patches is a 50-card relic set. There are also the Platinum Rookie Auto Pieces cards featuring game-worn or player-worn swatches from top 2018 rookies.

Most of the inserts mentioned above provide limited autographed versions, as well.

User Reviews

  1. Once again 90 percent of the product won’t actually hit the shelf.

  2. I would say 75% will not reach the shelves…Since the Big Cheese is Hurt…

  3. Unlike last years product with Judge/Bellinger mania in full swing this years product should be a lot easier to find especially since the chase player Ohtani is out for the season with an injury. This is a real nice product if you can find them on the shelves.

  4. easy pass. this years rookie class is pretty weak. All the good guys worth waiting for are going to be in future releases. its also painfully obvious Topps has increased their print runs.

  5. Bought a whole tray at my Walmart today that consists of 2 megas, 6 blasters and I think 15 single packs. Will be ripping on the next rainy day (other than today lol)

  6. Horrible product. Spent $836 (megas, blasters and packs) and pulled maybe $100 worth of cards.1 card short of a set after opening that much! Very disappointing product

  7. Excellent product. Spent $100 and got approximately $836 in cards. Not even close to a set, but did get some nice parallels of some good RCs, and some nice prospect autos.

  8. Product has a nice look to it. Ohtani’s face on his Rookie Revelations card will be my exact expression when I pull his auto.

  9. Great photography, awful choice on the “psychedelic swirl”. Easy set to complete. Came across my first base variation today. Code # 303. Card #49 Mike Trout in BP warmup…..nice.

  10. Found one Mega box at our local store. Two nice prospect autos, 1 short print and one numbered parallel. Clean design and nice insert sets. About a 45% fill rate on a base and prospect set. Reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that half of this product should hit hobby stores shelves as well on initial release, just like other retail only releases.

  11. Just a heads up…you can order right now at Walmart.com if interested. Did they raise price for box with the two autos? Past two years was $69.99. $79 online at WM. I hope you all have good finds

  12. Too many haters on early reviews not hitting the shelf. But again, there is the internet to buy at the main website. Got a box and it is awesome really worth putting money into

  13. Finally found some boxes and packs at a wal-mart way off the beaten path. They had a full tray with everything in it. However, they would not hold the tray for me for 40 mins until i drove there. Luckily it was all still therecwggen i showed up. I bought the 2 collector boxes, 4 blasters and 12 fat packs. I will be splitting this with my collecting friend. Yes, i did leave 2 blasters for the next guy. Nice product, but dont like the 8.00 price hike from last year for the collector boxes. Did pull a gleyber torres orange auto out 25 and a kris bryant photo variation. The other autos were evan white and duplantier pp out of 50. Happy ripping all.

  14. Got Lucky this year. Found collectors box and a blaster. Autos in box Gimenez of the Mets and Robles of the Nats. Also auto in blaster box was Alzolay of the Cubs. All 3 are the teams number one prospect.

  15. Pulled the Aaron judge die cut FoilFractor 1/1. Lucky me I guess.

  16. Not a great product. Price is far too steep for the scarcity of cards that are worth anything. I’ve spent over $300 on mega boxes, blasters, and packs, and have almost nothing to show for it.

  17. I bought one box and it was pretty good. My Miguel Andujar Rookie Revelations Auto is numbered /99, and is card RR-4, not RRA-MA. Good luck to any looking for boxes. I found mine in rural MI.

  18. I ordered a blaster box from Walmart, picked it up this evening, brought it home, and split up the packs with my sons. My 6 year old pulled a Hunter Greene Short Print Auto 6/10! He’s the luckiest person I know.

  19. I remember 2010 Bowman Platinum being one of the best sets I ever collected. Nice clean design, amazing prospects and rookies featured with on card autos. Now look at it – It’s a sticker dump with a pretty unsightly design. I will pass this year.

  20. Pretty sure the Gleyer Torres is Ronaled Torreyes

  21. Great product. I got 6 collector boxes at a local Walmart. Box #1 yielded Hunter Greene SP Auto /10 and Brendan McKay Top Prospect Green Auto #/99!! Box #2 yielded Keegan Akin Top Prospect Red Auto #/10 and Tyler Freeman Top Prospect Auto. Will open the other boxes later. Sticker Autos reason for 4 Star rating. But decent design otherwise. Pics on Twitter.

  22. Higher price on the collector/hobby boxes from past years. Also, all the hobby boxes I bought in the past had 1 base and 1 numbered auto. Bought two hobbys this year, got 4 base autos. Design is strange and color scheme is off-putting. Given these factors, will likely avoid this in the future. I did, however, come across a Wal-Mart that had 10 hobby boxes, 20 blasters, but oddly, no fatpacks, which appear to be the best value

  23. I would give this product a 3.5 rating.I bought 2 mega boxes and pulled A TOMAS NIDO JERSY/AUTO-HOLMES-ALLEN- GUTIERREZ AUTOS AND #1 OF TEN RED KEVIN MAITAN+3 GREEN#TO 99 OF KENDALL#3-BUKAUSKAS#60 AND BLACKMON#82 AND A HUNTER GREEN SSP PIC.Nice cards but still an overpriced market! can’t stop collecting been at it 54 years and counting!

  24. Really nice looking cards. Would have given 5 stars, but a handful of my cards had some printing imperfections. Not enough to ruin the set for me, but enough to be concerned. I bought two blasters online from Walmart and got a nice Keston Hiura card #/99. Pleasant surprise!

  25. Rural Walmart had a full tray of blasters and an empty beside it marked Topps Hobby 79.99. Bought two boxes. Not a fan of the design or the myriad cracked/fracked/iced parallels. How do you trade a card when it’s value can’t be agreed upon. Based on Ebay sales Foilfractors are a dime a dozen. Scratch offs finally helped offset the card jones. So I went to the track. Yes I know, too much s not enuff.

  26. Pretty cards! Although not Walmart exclusive. I found a lone pack at my local Meijer.

  27. so I buy 8 blasters at Walmart..
not one of them had anything more than the basic inserts.. no numbered, no auto, no SP….
guess they are getting searched before the local distributor drops them off at the walmart…
that’s really gonna create trust in buying any product from Walmart.
Topps and panini should stop distributing to these retail stores thru local distributors… its just not working right.

  28. I live in Canada and bought 2 blasters @ $30 each CAD and in one blaster I ended up pulling a Royce Lewis BP Cut Autographs Redemption card ser# 50 or less. Ratio 1 in 617 packs but not sure if that is hobby ratio or Retail ratio. Either way what a great pull!! Very happy with this product !!

  29. Congrats on the pull! Listed odds are for the Collector Boxes that have two autographs per box. This is essentially the Hobby version but all are Retail formats.

  30. So I’m a sucker…purchased 2 more hobby boxes and ended up with 4 more junk base autos and only a couple of purple parallels to 250. Again…higher price point plus a watered down product = no more of my hard-earned money. Thanks Topps for ruining this once very nice product.

  31. Either the crackpipe has been tasting a bit too delicious today (a more likely scenario)– or the name “Juan Soto” appears 0 times total above….

  32. Kinda plain jane.

  33. I bought three boxes at Walmart. Did get lucky. Pulled a platinum cut Royce Lewis Redemption.
