If you're a fan of the Walking Dead, it's tough not to be impressed with the autographs in Cryptozoic's sets. The sets based on the first two seasons included virtually all the lead characters. More importantly, nearly all the signers played significant roles in the show. The 2014 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 3 Autographs stick with this tradition.
This time, things are a little different. Cryptozoic split the season into two sets. The first focuses on the prison when Part 2 looks at Woodbury.
For Part 1, the main autograph set has 12 cards. Returning signers include Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie). Leading the new signers is Danai Gurira (Michonne). Part 2 isn't quite as strong, although it has David Morrissey (The Governor) and Laurie Holden (Andrea).
The basic autograph design continues to evolve. Season 1 cards were horizontal and quite bright. Season 2 flipped them vertically and opted for a darker approach. This is taken a step further for Season 3. Stark portraits are cast against a cracking frame. It's almost as if the characters are in coffins.
In addition to the regular autographs, both sets have Autographed Wardrobe cards as well. These come with a piece of costume used in the show's production.
All autographs combine to land 1:24 hobby packs, or one per box. Autographed Wardrobe cards are inserted 1:144 packs. These replace the box's regular autograph.
For those lucky enough to find one, there are also 25 redemptions good for an over-sized Dual Autographed Wardrobe card signed by Lincoln and Reedus randomly inserted in Part 1 packs. Their signatures are on Walker costume swatches.
