Tony Gwynn Game-Used Memorabilia and Awards to Be Sold at Auction

Tony Gwynn was one of the greatest hitters of all-time. He may not have done it with a lot of flash or power, but he was one of the most dependable and consistent players in the game. More than 100 pieces of game-used memorabilia, awards and personal mementos are heading to the auction block. They're being sold by SCP Auctions in an online sale that runs from April 8-25.

Among the items are game-used jerseys, two Silver Slugger awards and several All-Star rings. Game-used balls chronicling personal milestones and achievements are also part of the sale. Collectors can also bid on personal items and gifts given to Gwynn over the course of his career from teammates, coaches and other sporting dignitaries.

Some of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The San Diego non-profit is focused on creating opportunities for youth.

Those interested in bidding must register in advance on the SCP Auctions website.
