Tommy Lasorda isn't just a Dodgers icon, he's one of baseball's true gems. Sure, he's a Hall of Fame manager, but it's his personality and love of the game that has endured him with fans over the years. And how better to honor an icon? Los Angeles Dodgers fans got Tommy Lasorda Garden Gnomes in a stadium giveaway at their May 25 game.
Taking from the bobblehead giveaway page, the Tommy Lasorda Garden Gnome has the lovable legend dressed in a Dodgers uniform with the addition of a Smurf-like hat. Flexing his muscles, Lasorda has a big grin on his face, of course.
A total of 40,000 garden gnomes were produced for the promotion. This is just fewer than the announced attendance of 44,680 for the game, which saw Los Angeles beat the Braves 6-3.
Many of the Tommy Lasorda gnomes have already landed on eBay. Prices are pretty reasonable. They're readily available for less than $30.
Garden gnome giveaways have been on the rise over the last couple of years. While the number of such promotions are still much smaller than bobbleheads, most teams have at least one gnome planned for 2015.
