Minnesota Vikings Collecting and Fan Guide 1Despite a history of coming up short in the biggest games, the Minnesota Vikings feature plenty of Hall of Fame talent in their rich history and a passionate group of supporters. Thanks to a new crop of young talent to go along with the former greats, the Viking have received strong interest from collectors.

Founded in 1961 as the 14th NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings have made a habit of consistently winning games. Even with regular playoff appearances, 27 to date, the team has lost all four Super Bowl appearances and their last five NFC Championship Games.

Although the current squad is defined by exciting offensive talent such as Adrian Peterson, Cordarrelle Patterson and Teddy Bridgewater, the early teams were known for their defense. Alan Page, Carl Eller, Jim Marshall and Gary Larsen were one of the most dominant defensive lines in NFL history and were nicknamed the Purple People Eaters. The term has come to represent the Vikings as a whole.

The Vikings have also played home to several stars who were not originally drafted by the team, but still made their mark despite short stints with the team. Three prime examples of this are Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham and Brett Favre. Although each quarterback only donned the purple jersey for a few seasons, all three led the team to the playoffs and Cunningham and Favre took the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game.

In addition to quarterbacks, the Vikings boast two of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history, and their careers overlapped. Randy Moss and Cris Carter remain popular in the hobby to this day.

Minnesota Vikings Game Tickets

If you are looking for tickets to see the Minnesota Vikings play, it might be an overwhelming experience. Luckily for fans, NFL stadiums hold a lot of spectators. It is important to note that the longtime stadium for the Vikings, the Metrodome, was demolished following the 2013 season to make way for a new stadium. Since the new staium is not expected to be ready until the 2016 season, the Vikings are playing their  games at TCF Bank Stadium, which is the primary field for the University of Minnesota.
