Overview

Although long viewed as an NBA star, Kawhi Leonard rookie cards have not taken the quick path to hobby stardom. Expected to headline the San Antonio Spurs' next dynasty, an unexpected trade ahead of the 2018-19 season sent him to the Toronto Raptors where he promptly led the team to the NBA Finals and the 2019 title.

Kawhi Leonard played for the San Diego State Aztecs in college and was taken 15th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. Leonard never suited up for the Pacers, as he was immediately traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

As a rookie during the 2011-12 season, the NBA lockout postponed the official Kawhi Leonard rookie cards for one year. However, 2011-12 Upper Deck products offer collectors a college-themed option for Kawhi Leonard cards, including autographs. The most notable option is his 2011-12 Exquisite autograph. There are also several 2011-12 Panini Kawhi Leonard cards that come in the form of redemptions.

The large double rookie class that was a result of the NBA lockout lead to a huge influx of new 2012-13 Panini Basketball sets. Due to this, there are many rookie card options for the superstar across all budgets. As far as signed memorabilia, there is just not much out there for Kawhi Leonard. That should soon change.
