Freddie Freeman

Date of Birth: 9/12/1989
Rookie Card Year: 2011
Investment Rating: 7.0

Freddie Freeman is not a player than normally comes to mind when talking about mainstream hobby favorites. However, playing for the Atlanta Braves and their huge fanbase immediately boosts his recognition and a very successful 2013 season has pushed him to the next level. If he can help lead the Braves back to the World Series, Freeman can approach an elite group of young hobby stars.

Selected out of high school in the second round of the 2007 MLB Draft, Freddie Freeman would get his call up to the Majors in 2010. Although he was named the starter at first base in 2011, Freeman did not have his breakout season until 2013, when he was named an All-Star and finished 5th in the voting for NL MVP.

He still has a long way to go, but if he can keep building his game and the Braves continue to win, Freddie Freeman cards and autographs will push higher in value. He currently does not have a ton of autographed memorabilia available, but that will change if he consistently plays at an All-Star level.

Freddie Freeman has 14 official rookie cards and several popular prospect cards. The top options are highlighted below.

2011 Topps Triple Threads Freddie Freeman #123 Autographed Bat #/99

The on-card signature and low print run make this a very desirable Freddie Freeman rookie card. That fact that it is the only official rookie that includes a signature makes it even more special. On top of that, the card includes bat pieces.

2011 Topps Chrome Freddie Freeman #173 Autograph

Technically, the base card is the official rookie, but collectors prefer the autographed version for obvious reasons. The Chrome Freddie Freeman parallels are especially popular.

Freddie Freeman Key Signature Attributes: An authentic Freddie Freeman signature autograph will exhibit several distinguishing characteristics. It is important to note that Freddie Freeman has greatly shortened his signature. When examining his current autograph, look for the following signature features:

  1. The signature begins with two large "F" letters that resemble the number seven.
  2. The pen lifts and the remainder of the signature is little more than a squiggle that crosses both of the "F" letters.
  3. Sometimes the first and last name are separated, but the "F" is still the only legible part.
  4. The signature ends with a "5" for his jersey number.

  1. Hi,
I’m trying to find some information on a card I have. It’ a 2011 Topps Freddie Freeman Rookie Card. Card #ATL11.
Is this a variation card or just a common? I’ve looked at EBay and also on this site and can’t find anything.
Any help would be very appreciative.
    Thank you
