Damian Lillard Rookie Cards and Autograph Memorabilia Guide

Damian Lillard

Date of Birth: 7/15/1990
Rookie Card Year: 2012-13
Investment Rating: 7.5

As the sixth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, expectations were high for Damian Lillard, and he was happy to meet them. However, when it comes to Damian Lillard rookies cards, things are not so simple.

An already strange situation surrounding 2012-13 NBA rookie cards got even more complicated when the point guard signed an exclusive autograph deal with Leaf Trading Cards. And while there are plenty of Damian Lillard cards to choose from, he doesn't have nearly as many official rookie cards as other high-profile 2012-13 rookies. This situation was somewhat alleviated when it was announced that Leaf and Panini had reached an agreement to allow Damian Lillard autographs to appear in several late 2012-13 Panini products. Panini also produced special Damian Lillard autographed cards using designs from earlier products in the 2012-13 line as part of a wrapper redemption program.

Because of the labor dispute that shortened the 2011-12 season, 2012-13 Panini NBA products have two years' worth of rookie cards. Many products from the company focused largely on autographed rookie cards. Because Lillard never signed an autograph deal with Panini, he doesn't have rookie cards in several early-season sets. His pack-pulled NBA autographed rookie cards can be found in 2012-13 Panini Intrigue2012-13 Panini Immaculate and 2012-13 Panini Flawless.

Due to this unique situation, some of the best early Damian Lillard rookie cards are found in popular mid-range products, specifcally 2012-13 Panini Prizm Basketball. Rare parallels and inserts are also proving to be hot with collectors.

Collectors can still find plenty of other autograph cards for the Trail Blazers standout. Lillard is heavily featured in 2012-13 Leaf basketball and multi-sports products. Because Leaf doesn't hold an NBA license, these aren't official rookie cards but they're still garnering lots of attention on the secondary market.
