Michael Jordan Guide to 2011-12 Fleer Retro Basketball

Michael Jordan Guide to 2011-12 Fleer Retro Basketball

A sleeping giant has awakened. The combination of Michael Jordan and immensely popular 1990s inserts has made 2011-12 Fleer Retro Basketball one of the hottest sets in the hobby.

Across the board, the set is doing very well. But it's MJ who is setting the standard. Not that collectors would expect anything different.

Despite lacking an NBA license, nearly all of the 2011-12 Fleer Retro Michael Jordan cards are selling in the hundreds, if not thousands. Leading the way are the Precious Metal Gems. Available in three colored tiers, all are scorching. Immediately upon release, a pair Precious Metal Gems Red (#/150) Michael Jordan cards hit the $2,000 mark. A Blue version numbered to 50 sold on eBay for more than $5,600.

2011-12 Fleer Retro Basketball has more than 25 different Michael Jordan cards when you take into account the autographs and variations.

Check out our reference gallery of all the different autographs and variations. We've called on some of MJ's friends to keep his spot warm in a couple of instances.
