It should not be much of a surprise that fans regard Peter Parker as one of the most beloved comic book characters of all-time. Still, some might find it amazing (oh, I did) to know Spider-Man is also creator Stan Lee's favorite. As Parker's Uncle Ben says, "With great power comes great responsibility," and this could be Funko's mantra, too. There is more than a dozen Funko Pop Spider-Man figures to collect, each marking special events in Spider-Man's story arc.

Spider-Man made his comic book debut in Marvel's Amazing Fantasy #15. The 1962 issue also featured Parker’s origin story: the 15-year-old was bitten on the hand by a radioactive spider, thus giving him many abilities and a new sixth sense we know as “Spider-Sense.” Even though the location of where Peter Parker was when he received the fateful bite has changed over the years, both the radioactive spider and Spider-Man continue to be a Marvel Universe mainstay.

Order Pop Spider-Man Figures on Entertainment Earth.

The first Funko Pop Spider-Man figures are included in the Pop! Marvel: Marvel Universe line. Along with the main figure, there are a few exclusive options, including black and white, red and black, and a metallic version at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. Numerous Spider-Man figures from the Pop! Marvel line are issued exclusively through Walgreens, such as Black Suit Spider-Man and the glow-in-the-dark version, along with Spider-Man 2099, Iron Spider, and Scarlet Spider.

Part of the rebooted film franchise, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movies received additional figures, with many being chase variants. This includes a Spider-Man glow-in-the-dark chase issued as both a Gemini-exclusive and a separate exclusive in Japan. For those who like the thrill of the hunt, there is also a metallic version found only with the Japanese Blu-Ray release of The Amazing Spider-Man, which is limited to just 1,000 pieces.

Although Spider-Man is offered good coverage in Pop! form, there are many other collecting avenues to take. View an overview of the various Spider-Man collectibles in our detailed guide.
