In a playful mashup product, 2022 Topps MLB X GPK presents some of the top players as Garbage Pail Kids characters.
The GPK collaboration artwork for Series 1 is supplied by Keith Shore, a frequent contributor to Topps' online releases, including Topps Project70 and 2021 Topps 1989 Bowman X Keith Shore.
The Series 2 set features art from Alex Pardee, another well-known Topps artist.
Although the Series 1 one-pack boxes sold for $19.99, with five-pack boxes at $95, the Series 2 pricing increased to $24.99 per box and $194.99 per eight-pack box.
2022 Topps MLB X GPK Baseball Set Details
Merging two collecting worlds, 2022 Topps MLB X GPK Baseball showcases two distinct Garbage Pail Kids styles for top MLB stars.
Series 1, with artwork from Keith Shore, has a total of 30 cards in the base set, which includes 15 A-Names and 15 B-Names.
The Series 2 lineup, featuring Alex Pardee art, also totals 30 cards with 15 A-Names and 15 B-Names.
There are limited C-Name variations to chase for both series, as well. These rare cards list the player's actual name instead of a GPK name.
Series 2 also has unannounced "No Name" versions. Topps did not confirm if these cards were a planned parallel or a true production error.
Look for Artist Portrait inserts and autographs in Series 1 and Series 2 boxes.
The Wrapper Art (1:40 packs) and "Baseball Guy" Pencil Drawing (1:100 packs) inserts are only in Series 2.
Other 2022 Topps MLB X GPK Baseball Cards
Just for Series 1 cards, the Silver Frame Artist Proof versions (#/49) are sold separately. These include a chance for a one-of-one Gold Frame chase.
The on-card player autographs for Bobby Witt Jr. and Julio Rodriguez are also sold separately, including multiple low-numbered parallels.
