2022 Topps Baseball Complete Factory Set Rookie Variations Gallery and Checklist
Just like prior seasons, the 2022 Topps Baseball Factory Set rookie variations are issued in the Topps Complete Set MLB boxes as extra cards.
This year, collectors can find an even larger selection.
2022 Topps Baseball Factory Set Rookie Variations Details
An initial disappointment for many, 2022 Topps Series 2 Baseball did not include Spencer Torkelson, Julio Rodriguez or Bobby Witt Jr. on the base checklist. Though, the trio did ultimately make the cut as short-printed variations. The end result is largely the same for 2022 Topps Baseball Complete Factory Set. These three stars add secondary options for cards #658 (Justin Bruihl), #659 (LaMonte Wade Jr) and #660 (Shohei Ohtani). Backs list "Complete Sets" under the card number.
One tricky part is that Topps did not note the cards on the box checklist, so it may be a surprise to those opening the sealed sets.
These three bonus rookie variations should be found in all Topps Complete Set formats.
While it does not happen every year, collectors have seen this before, including bonus Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cards in 2019 and bonus Ronald Acuna Jr./Gleyber Torres cards in 2018.
One thing worth noting is that with the All-Star Game box set format, which appeared first, the bonus rookie variations cards aren't stamped, which goes against tradition.
2022 Topps Baseball Complete Factory Set Retail
As for the Retail Rookie Variations, the extra cards appear in all Retail formats via a cello pack. The boxes specifically note these so there is no confusion. For some reason, the backs list "Chrome" under the card number instead of "Complete Sets."

Moving on, the actual Chrome editions are specific to the Target-exclusive box set. All cards appear to be Refractors.
These also have limited Refractor parallels, including Gold (#/50 - 1:134 boxes), Orange (#/25 - 1:265 boxes), Red (#/5 - 1:1,281 boxes), and SuperFractor (1/1 - 1:6,403 boxes).
