2020 Donruss Baseball Variations Gallery
The 2020 Donruss Baseball variations continue to operate on the belief that variations don't need to be rare to have a place in the Panini MLBPA lineup. The cards make simple changesβnormally nicknames or image swapsβand they are not very hard to find.
This lack of rarity doesn't appeal to everyone, but it does provide a very cheap option when tracking down the variation(s) for your favorite player or team.
2020 Donruss Baseball Variations Details
Helping the process immensely, all 38 variations were listed on the 2020 Donruss Baseball checklist. The problem is figuring out which is the variation and which is the base card. The fact that both the base cards and variations come in the same 19 (!) parallels doesn't make it any less confusing.
However, it appears Panini added a helpful cheat to spot the variations. If you flip the card to the back, the variations feature a retro Donruss logo in red instead of the standard black-and-white version. A circle has been added below to indicate where you should be looking.
Some also change the team name on the back, like the "City of Angels" text variant for Trout.
For the Retro 1986 subset cards, it utilizes a different design, but the same basic idea applies. The base card has a stencil baseball image that displays the card number in black text. The variation also uses the ball, but it features white text filled in with a black background.
As mentioned, all the variations come in the full parallel assortment, so collectors can go about this in several different ways.

Hi! Thanks for the wonderful tips on finding variations for all the different sets. On the 2020 Donruss baseball retail box I bought today, all the 1986 variants also had the backs flipped the opposite direction in addition to the black filled logo with white numbers in them. Keep up the good work!
