2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey Base / Parallels

A moderate 200-card set adds 50 High Series short prints cards, featuring top stars and rookies, to make a 250-card base set. The High Series SP cards fall in every other pack.

Per Upper Deck, carryover rookies "include Josh Norris, Gabe Vilardi, Timothy Liljegren, Martin Kaut, Liam Foudy and Jason Robertson."

As for parallels, the typical Puzzle Back cards average 1:4 packs and only apply to cards #1-200. Full base parallels include Silver Script (1:4 packs), Super Script (#/25), Hobby-only Black Super Script (#/5), and Printing Plates (1/1).

2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey Rookie Redemptions

Although it releases too early for the '20-21 rookie debuts to be covered out of the box, 2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey supplies collectors with a rookie IOU in the form of the Rookie Redemption (1:400 packs) cards. These are issued as small divisional sets rather than as individual cards and should fall around one per case.

Most appealing is the tough 2020 NHL Draft #1 Pick Redemption (1:1,250 packs) with an even tougher Gold (1:12,500 packs) parallel.

2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey Inserts

The rest of the 2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey checklist is filled with inserts. Paying respect to the past, in this case, 2000-01 MVP, is 20th Anniversary Tribute for top veterans and prospects. The set is broken down into Third Star (1:5 packs), Second Star (#/100) and First Star (#/25) options.

In addition, the popular Colors & Contours is a parallel, of sorts, to the 20th-anniversary insert. The colorful insert line offers Gold (#/250), Green (#/20) and Purple (#/3) cards in the rainbow.

  1. Pretty good product for beginner collectors. I maybe rated it too high but I find that the inserts are well made. Though the puzzle backs are trash in my opinion since there are too many.

MVP is a bit nostalgic for me since I opened a box of 16/17 (first hobby box) and pulled a central division redemption. That was a case hit for that year.
