2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variations Checklist and Gallery
The flagship MLB set adds more short-printed chase cards with the 2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball variations. At this point, everyone knows the drill. These are the more limited versions of the base cards that normally replace a common image with something a little more fun. Once again, short prints (SP) and super short prints (SSP) are in play.
2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variation Set Details
Taking the base set in the 2019 Topps Series 2 checklist for a spin, base short print (SP) variations are more common and the tougher pulls are the SSP variations of "Legend" cards for retired players or the third photo option for a few modern names. Not all the former players are part of the SSP grouping, though, as many of the variations this time around go with retired stars. The grand total should be 75 SP cards and 25 SSP cards.
The only card disclosed on the final checklist, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is technically not even a variation since his card does not have a more common version or a card number. Revealed to be #700 on the checklist from Topps, the rookie card actually has no number on the back. Based on early observations, it appears to more common than expected, falling about half as often as a standard base card.

2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variation Pack Odds
For those keeping track at home, the 2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball variation odds are a bit easier than Series 1. Topps also remembered to include the short-printed cards in the Hobby Jumbo format, which was not the case in Series 1.
- SP - 1:20 packs
- SSP - 1:589 packs
- SP - 1:5 packs
- SSP - 1:129 packs
2019 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variation Codes
If you refer to the code as an easy way to identify the variations, Series 2 largely follows suit. You just need to check the CODE#CMP digits on the back. This is found on the final line of text at the bottom of the card under the stats.

However, an exception is the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rookie card that carries the base code numbering. This is because the Vlad Jr. card is not a true variation.
Also, the Advanced Stat parallel has a different code but is not a traditional variation. These apply to the majority of the base set and change the player stats on the back. They are serial numbered to 150 copies on the back. The same parallel is found in Series 1, as well.
- Base Cards end in #962
- Advanced Stat parallel ends in #968
- SP Variations end in #031
- SSP Variations end in #032

Trey Treutel
It’s an insert parallel rather than a base variation. This info is covered in the main Series 2 guide. You should have the Gold parallel. https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2019-topps-series-2-baseball-cards
