2019 Bowman Platinum Baseball Variations Guide
Bowman maintains a stranglehold on the prospect market but the 2019 Bowman Platinum Baseball variations opt for the more experienced players in the retail-only set. The exclusive product is only found at Walmart.
Generally reserved for the younger stars, the 2019 Bowman Platinum Baseball checklist makes a little extra room for veteran talent. This is where the 2019 Bowman Platinum Baseball variations work their super short print magic.
Already thought of as tough pull, as was the case in 2018, the 2019 Bowman Platinum SSP variations get even tougher with odds of 1:660 packs for the Monster boxes, and 1:825 packs for Blaster boxes. In case you are wondering, that works out to 1:33 Monster boxes and roughly 1:118 Blaster boxes. So, yes, these are very rare cards.
This is different from the four rookie players added as short prints, including Eloy Jimenez, Fernando Tatis Jr, Pete Alonso, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. These late rookie cards are much more commonly found.
For those wondering, Guerrero Jr. has both a rookie card and a Top Prospect insert.
2019 Bowman Platinum Variation Codes
In addition to the image change, another tip for identifying the variations can be found on the back of the card under the stats. Check the final three digits of the CODE#CMP number to confirm if you are looking at a base card or the variation. The rookie SP cards show the base number.
- Base - ends in #674
- Variation - ends in #722

The four rookie players below replace other cards in the main checklist numbering, but are much easier to find than the SSP variations above. These appear to have all the base parallels, as well.

Simple but Brilliant Idea
Variations are all the rage right now…
but honestly…
you pull one and turn it over and the reaction is just meh… no body is gonna really pay me too much for this.. so why waste my time..
a year later and no one wants they variations anyway..
but look at the color variations in most bowman or panini prizm sets… they get numbered and people do pony up for those….
so..hey Topps.. can you just do the right thing and number the variations…. otherwise if you dont.. people will stop seeing any value in them and not buy the product when there is no value in the variations or most other cards as compared to the high price point on product which was defined by having ‘hits’ now most hits dont justify the box value and its gonna bring heavy downward pressure on most of your product lines or SKUs
