One of the breakout hits of 2017 returns with 2018 Bowman Mega Box Chrome Baseball. Featuring many of the top rookies and prospects from 2018 Bowman, the Target-only release includes two packs of the exclusive cards in every box. There are also five packs of 2018 Bowman Baseball. Boxes retail for $14.99.

Similar to the 2017 set, the cards feature a unique Refractor design dubbed "mojo" by many in the hobby.

UPDATE (5/24): Already seeing strong demand upon release, Topps added a little extra hype by revealing that 2018 Bowman Mega Box Chrome Baseball has limited redemptions for Shohei Ohtani 2018 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autographs. Per Topps, these are the base versions like the ones found in 2018 Bowman, and do not feature the mojo pattern.

User Reviews

  1. Great looking cards but I’ll never see them in Target. I’m still waiting on last years. 3 different Targets everyday for 3 weeks and zero.

  2. I agree with David, nice stuff, but it never hits the shelves. Someone bribes a distributor or the guy in charge of that department at Target, and the boxes are gone without anyone getting a chance. Then you see them 5-10 times their face value on eBay. That really sucks

  3. I am a vendor at target. the product is delivered and then sits in the backroom sealed until the vendor shows up to check it in and put it out. ask to speak to the receiver at your store and find out if their has been a delivery. at my targets the product usually sits in the backroom a few days. the vendors don’t move to fast. it’s usually a part time job for them.

  4. At all of my Targets the Excel boxes sit next to the shelf for an extended period of time, allowing people to come in and rip them open and buy the contents before they ever hit the shelves.

  5. With respect to David Pat and Jim. I don’t see anything shady going on at my local target as far as I know. I was able to get a few mega boxes last year. The issue I think is timing. They put them on the shelves usually when everyone is at work and the first person that sees them, buys them all. How can you blame them? I hate how product prices go way up on ebay with high demand. Even presale items are overpriced now. But that’s that way the cookie crumbles and every once in a while a crumb will fall in your lap. I am super happy that topps does not give in to the demand and print ten million mega boxes. They keep the value strong by making them hard to get your hands on.

  6. Cant wait for this to come out, it will certainly be a challenge to find one though. There is a guy already selling one on ebay for $60

  7. I would love to crack a few boxes but it is already sold out at all 5 targets in my area. I went to one target close to me 5 times in the last 2 days just to find out one guy came in a got the whole case to scalp the second they hit the shelf. I will be so happy for next year without everyone going “Japanese Babe Ruth” crazy and not have to pay a fortune for Hobby and bare shelves for retail. Sorry for the rant sour grapes and all.

  8. this item was not on the shelf next to checkouts with the rest of the card boxes. It was on a hanging rack next to the local teams tshirts etc display toward the back of the store.

  9. sounds just like back in the day when I worked in the mall and Starting Lineup was released. The flea market dealers were in the stock room at kb toys buying them off the truck, never made it to shelves.

  10. How many ohtani autos are in the product? or is it just that one?

  11. Only the redemption autograph for Ohtani. The only live card is the ROY insert.

  12. So I’m hearing that the Ohtani redemption is actually in the base packs, and not in the Mega Packs. Has anyone seen or heard differently?

  13. I am done with this insanity. cant find it, don’t have it or someone bought it all. pure Ebay resell greed. I thought the insanity would die down after 2017 mega boxes. This year seems worse than last year to find any of these boxes. I wish Topps would stop over producing the bowman. it just kills the collectability of the base prospects and rookie cards. MY ADVICE IS JUST AVOID IT AND DONT BUY IT FROM THESE GREEDY RESELLERS. Its the only way to beat them at their game. Wait them out and they will lower their prices. This years product isn’t that great anyways. Topps snuck a ohtani redemption card in there. not saying how many. I will put my money elsewhere, thank you…..

  14. I agree with the majority of the posts here. You can not find this item except on resellers auctions. And no, not all the time are products put on shelves when everyone is working during day. Someone is cutting the supply line b4 a shelf even sniffs a box. I believe in Capitalism, but this is robbery!!

  15. I agree with the consensus. Just got off the phone with TOPPS and then spoke to some distributors and 3 different face to face meetings with Target Managers – check out some of the distributors here on Trey’s site – set your parameters on both due dates and order dates – and look for this product – and it looks like the distributors did not list them for us to see. I can guarantee there are 3 Targets here in my area that saw zero boxes. It is a bad joke on us. I have dropped the Mega Box like an anvil and will not spend my money on them; ever.

  16. I have also been to 4 Targets every day for the past 10 days. Not a single box and no one has seen any. Something screwy is going on. Especially since there are a couple big card websites that have plenty at a substantial mark up. I’m done with Target.

  17. They are no where in any Target store to be found. BS marketing Skim!! I have looked in different Target stores. Two in CT and three in NY. It’s funny but mis inform by the media, fake information/news some individuals on EBay are making money

  18. Stopped at my Target today. Nothing in where the cards always are but found a stand-alone display with 29 boxes back in the toy section. Check there.

  19. I went to Target today and spoke with a manager. They went through there system and Bowman Mega Box has never hit the shelf . They went in back and opened a new box of a card shipment no luck. Chasing a ghost

  20. Why do people rate this product 1 or 2 stars just because they can’t find any? Leave off the stars unless you’ve opened some. Throws off the legit reviews.

  21. The above statement is wrong, I have been in the toy section also in so many Target stores and the boxes are not there also. BS marketing skim by Topps and few others just to make money.

  22. I was lucky enough after visiting 6 Targets over two weeks didn’t find any release week, found 30 on the second week in the Toy section. Opened 10 Boxes, 1 auto, 1 Acuna /50 and Acuna Trending /250, several lower named players to (4) 250, 3 (99), 2(50) and 1 (25). Auto was Florial. To many duplicate of the base mojo. Notice most mojo backs had two or 3 players form the same team. For $15 i guess it’s a good price if you get an auto but at the rates on eBay to much of a risk for reward. The base cards are useless unless Ohtani and may have gotten 2 out of 50 packs

  23. I agree with what others have said.
I’ve personally visited 7 Targets, dozens of times. I’ve talked with employees and managers. Nothing changed from the 2017 re-release and this 2018 release.
As far as everyone knows the stores in the PNW got ZERO boxes both years…. that or there is a coordinated backroom effort to unload the boxes. I honestly don’t think it anything nefarious, but rather inconsistent supply distribution.
Being on west-coast I can say we often get better supplies of whatever the “hot” imported electronic gadget for the holiday season. Since the baseball card companies are all east coast I’ve noticed limited supplies of even regular releases. Self supply is extremely limited. The only way I’ve had success getting retail product is to order blaster boxes via B&M stores websites. I have yet to actually see a 2018 bowman retail pack in a store. I see gravity boxes – but they’re all empty. I have NEVER seen the 2018 Bowman 3pack + bonus in store… or even seen a empty peg hook.

  24. Impossible to find for one. Secondly, from what I’ve heard there are only 25 Ohtani redemptions. Third, a Target employee told me that it’s being discontinued according to their system. Biggest waste of time spent. If I could buy them for $15 online then fine but not paying eBay prices. This whole thing is corrupt

  25. Rating as “average” because while I love the look and am a Bowman fan the inability to find it at anywhere close to retail pricing diminishes it’s allure. I know for a FACT that a store manager can request the delivery go directly to them so they can buy every single box before it even gets close to hitting the sales floor. Under normal circumstances this bothers me, but when it is a Target exclusive product I find it appalling. I suppose they consider it one of the perks of the job, but as a collector I reserve the right to take my business elsewhere.

  26. Managed to find 6 boxes at a store. Only got two parallel cards and no autos, Ohtani, etc. The regular Bowman packs had nothing either. I will not buy again.

  27. Purchased 5 boxes early on 1st day of distributing per topps, 5 more boxes later that day, left at least 5 boxes on shelf for someone else to buy. Listed on eBay in a 5 count lot, it did not sell. Open 1 box a night now during brewer telecast. 1 auto card green, also green /99, 1 auto reg mojo. It has been fun. Sorry to all who missed out, they are nice looking cards.

  28. Good stuff at good price. had no problems picking up 50 ish or so… found a few empty red diplay cases … but over all did very good. Staying ahead of the game helps. This product came out about week early and was moved to different section. Knowing this was happening was only reason i was able to find them. Knowing patterns and name of your target reps helps. The curve was that these wernt even sent to reps as they were sent straight to store . The managers arnt allowed to buy or hide the product or they can get fired, I think a few at corp. manager meeting prob decided they would move them as they were informed they would be shipped directly to store. I talked to manager of toy section and she said she was told by corp to put them there..isles 20-22…NOT in front with rest of cards… Now cards are not even in that area anymore…all have been moved back to original spot…imo yeah stores were shady. Sucks if you didnt find any . I think next year we will see if these were good deal or not … to early to tell and i think most just judge from hype from last years.
