Product Details

User Rating:

Year two for the reboot set, the 2017 Topps Gold Label Baseball checklist doesn't stray far from the 2016 edition, but there are a few tweaks. The hobby-exclusive product features one framed autograph per box.

2017 Topps Gold Label Baseball Base / Parallels

The 100-card base set mixes modern rookies and stars with former legends of the game, each featured in Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 versions. Building on that, every card combines two images for the player, including different photo options for each Class and a total of 300 cards.

Of course, within that base list is a mixture of parallels and increasing rarity. This involves Black (Class 1 - 1:2 packs; Class 2 - 1:6 packs; Class 3 - 1:20 packs), Blue (Class 1 - #/150; Class 2 - #/99; Class 3 - #/50), Red (Class 1 - #/75; Class 2 - #/50; Class 3 - #/25) and Gold (1/1) options to chase.

2017 Topps Gold Label Baseball Autographs / Relics

The main hit in 2017 Topps Gold Label Baseball, Framed Autograph cards fall in each box and some are signed on-card. Low-numbered parallels take the form of new Black (#/99 or less) and Blue (#/50 or less) editions, to go along with Red (#/25 or less) and one-of-one Gold.

2017 Topps Gold Label Baseball Cards 1

MLB Legends Relic inserts are a new case hit that celebrates the all-time greats. These also have Black Refractor (#/5) and Gold Refractor (1/1) parallels.

In more recent years, he started collecting basketball cards again on a whim and has since expanded to other sports and entertainment options.

User Reviews

Autos are have dents on the surface and all 3 classes have digs fresh out of the pack. It is apparent your printers do not care about the quality of their work. Dump them before more collectors dump you. A 3 rating is very generous.

These cards are kind of like a double-edged sword. The front of the card is cool because it has dual pics of the player. The rear of the card is not very interesting at all and is actually boring. So between the two parts of this card being the front and the back, the card actually evens out to be mediocre at best. Just my opinion, everybody has one.

Josh

This was my first ever box of Gold Label and I was very satisfied overall. The Gold framed autos are really nice, though the checklist is weak. Like with any product, you are better off buying singles. Distinguishing what class a card is, is pretty difficult as you have to turn the card a certain way in the light to even be able to see what it is.

Matt
Matt

If a Bellinger framed auto /100 is selling for less than $200 on eBay, the product is junk. Base cards feel cheap, can’t read class 1/2/3 (and honestly don’t care because there’s nothing that makes any of them special). I broke a couple cases of Gold Label and purchased some personal boxes, just didn’t find the value in it. Too many damaged cards: it looks like fingernail indentations on some of the auto cards, and the base cards don’t consistently come out of the packs without dinged corners. All but a few of the framed autos can be found online for less than the cost of a box.

There are to many haters for every product that comes out from either topps or panini. I’m not a fan of panini by any means but damn don’t buy cards if they keep disappointing you.

Congratulations, Topps. Your designers win the “most difficult cards to read” category this year. Thanks for making it easy to figure out the various classes without an electron microscope. If not for the value price, I would have passed. Two boxes was more than enough. Once again, full of garbage, and way too many parallels.

And the twins 15? All the same player, no auto, just parallels. What a joke. It’s disgusting to me that you guys don’t even hide the fact that it’s all bout $ and nothing more for you. Good thing you guys have a ton of fresh new ideas! You know, like putting in employees autographs into A&G this year. I wasn’t gonna buy A&G this year. But, you guys hooked me with the Topps Employee autos. lol. And with 15 different variations of Miguel Sano in Gold Label? I can’t wait to as these boxes up. No Buxton, Berrios, Rosario, hell, even Mauer. Nope.

At least the Twins are represented in this set. And the hits on this set seem to be distributed among each team equally……as evidenced by the Cubs 150+, the Yankees (big shock), Astros, And Braves (100+) and the Twins 15……Its cool Topps, keep alienating certain collectors. At least Panini PRETENdS to give a crap about small market teams.

At first, I was mega hyped about Gold Label’s return last year. I LOVE the frames, and even picked up a few just to punch out the cards so I could use the frames on some custom projects.

I’ve cooled a bit now on it because the novelty for me has worn off.

Why was it pushed back and why did it change from two to one auto??? rather pay 60 for two autos…
