Although each of the movies has their own feel and showcases the main characters at different points, 2016 Topps Star Wars Evolution does not focus on just one thing and instead looks at how the notable characters have evolved over time. A deep autograph checklist leads the way for collectors.
Kicking things off, the 100-card base set includes the key subjects across the Star Wars world. The dual-imaged cards go a step further by explaining how the characters changed. A handful of parallels are available, including Blue Lightsaber (1:2 packs), Purple Lightsaber (1:12 packs), Gold (#/100) and Imperial Red (1/1).
Boasting a checklist of over 50 signers, the Autographs rely on a grid-like background and sticker signatures. Parallels include Purple Lightsaber (#/25), Gold (#/10), Imperial Red (1/1) and Printing Plates (1/1). There are also limited Dual and Triple Autographs.
Other hits include Manufactured Patch Cards, which are broken down by factions including The Empire, The Rebel Alliance, The Galactic Republic, The Separatists, The Jedi Council, The Rebels, The Resistance and The First Order. Additionally, one Signed Patch Card is found from each faction.
While hits are always a key component, 2016 Topps Star Wars Evolution includes several different inserts, each with a different theme. Evolution of Vehicles & Ships looks at how the modes of transportation changed while Evolution of the Lightsaber explores the history of the iconic weapon. Offering a combo of characters, Stained Glass Pairings feature two subjects with a shared connection. Lastly, Evolution of Star Wars Comics pays homage to the illustrations that have exposed many more fans to the story.
Sketch cards get in on the evolution fun with limited artistic interpretations.

Great set, the cards look amazing in the foil format and the card stock is thicker then the last two Force Awakens releases.
I am very impressed with the image quality on the Comic Book Cards, along with the Stained Glass cards – which are acetate material I believe.
This will not be an easy set to complete with inserts running rarer and rarer depending on which ones – my hobby box break had 3 Lightsaber, 6 Comic and 12 Vehicles and Ship Insert Cards – along with only ONE Stained Glass cards which is normal 1:24 they are!!
The ‘morph’ cards are a nice addition, but with opening 2 1/2 boxes, I didn’t pull a single one :-(
