2016 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards

Putting together team sets and noticed that in 2016 Series 1, in the Detroit Tigers cards on the reverse, all of the team logos (old English “D”) are white with the exception of 110 J.D. Martinez. Anyone know why???

Am I the only one that is getting reprint buybacks? I have been all over the interwebs for an hour and a half, and everyone says that the buybacks are actual cards from past sets in “as-is” condition.

Topps Series product is the best by far. Inexpensive & loaded with Monsters.

Hey if any physical collectors pull the Molina Titans card and don’t care about the Bunt redemption, I will trade a ton of inserts/Debut coin cards/Wade Boggs Pressed Into Service relic (#10/50) for the Molina redemption code only (you can keep the card itself)!!

Thanks for the info Trey! One more thing tho… I pulled an auto of Gary Kroll on a Topps Heritage card. The card features a silver 65th buyback stamp as well. Tho i dont think its a buyback. Beckett has stated that the Buyback auto has two different foil stamps. This only has the one. Don’t know who this guy is, but can’t say i am excited to pull a guy who only had a cup of coffee in the show. Am i missing something on this guy? If not, why would they inlcude autos of players like this?

Picked up my first 3 packs of the yr at Wally World today. Usually they only carry the rack pcks but they actually had the regular 12 card pcks. Like the base design. The are always eh w Topps. Comes with the territory but do wish Bergers Best were a little tuffer to pull. All 3 pcks had one. Did get lucky on my 2nd psck. Pulled Rob Refsnyder Scouting Report auto which is like striking gold with retail pcks. Always seem to get lucky & pull a lot variations outta retail.

Nice card design. Love the Wrigley set and the Bargers Best set. Have ripped into two hobby boxes. And have a couple of questions i guess. i pulled an Ichiro Laser book (states that these are #99) however this one is not. Also pulled a card that i believe is a negative parallel and these are stated to be #99, however this one isnt either. Also, what are these presidential contender cards that are stated to be inserted at 1 in 12? Two boxes ripped and didnt see any of those. BTW did pull an auto of a Topps heritage guy from the sixties that ive never heard of.. Topps, if you’re going to put autos from past players in your product. Stars would be nice.

Overall, a pretty nice release, but what I absolutely cannot stand is how the so-called “rookie” cards (the ones marked RC on the front) don’t have the players’ Major League stats on the back. For example, Kyle Schwarber played like half the season in the Big Leagues last year, yet the back of the card only has his Minor League numbers for the year. Why does Topps do this? Also, I don’t like the “Future Stars” feature either, because it just seems so random. They have players who are already established as “stars” labeled as future stars (like Kris Bryant and J.D. Martinez), so it kind of doesn’t make sense.

I bought a hobby box and got only a No-Hitter pin card – no auto and no relic. Is the commemorative pin considered the relic? I’m asking Topps to make it right and just wanted to get your thoughts $70 for hit that is a manufactured pin card is a ripoff. Love Topps,but this one was a real bummer.

I love the buybacks..as I was wondering I pulled a silver stamped dellin betances Autograph.. I didnt know the 65th anniversary stamped buybacks had autos, no mention on checklist of any.. Your thoughts Trey?

A little help, please. My son pulled an unmarked buyback: a framed Jeter from the 2014 framed cards (Gibson, Koufax, etc). I can’t find any reference to unmarked buybacks–or framed buybacks. Any ideas, info, or indications as to the card (and the lack of buyback stamp)?

Yeah, I thought the cards felt pretty flimsy as well. Guess it’s not just me.

Topps claims their surveys support the stamping of buybacks but I haven’t talked to a single collector that doesn’t hate the ruining of old cards that way. Has anyone else noticed the slightly thinner card stock this year?

I have to agree with prufrock88, this is a fairly underwhelming product. I still miss the classic white-border designs for the main Topps sets. That being said, I did enjoy a couple of the cards I pulled.

Colinda, there are several websites that sell hobby products at good prices. Blowout is my favorite. But you should also try Googling for physical shops in your area too.

Very educational for me being I’m new to collecting cards. Where can I find me a hobby dealer at so I can order directly from them instead of eBay auction?

sorry, but i have to go against the grain here. This release isn’t too impressive. Card design is ugly, inserts are repetitive, autos and relics stink. Just doesn’t work for me.

You mentioned Pink parallel in description but its not on the checklist tab

Wow. This iteration of Topps Baseball is absolutely terrific! It’s been a VERY long time since I broke a Topps product with the enthusiasm I did ’16 Baseball.
A Cano auto patch /10 was a nice pull, as was the Trea Turner auto, but the redesigned Base cards, the inserts that actually make sense this year, the BuyBacks…. I pulled a Tim McCarver second year and Jose Canseco rookie B/B’s, amongst others.

All told, a very enjoyable and remunerative box break!

Just opened one Hobby box with Ichiro Laser, SRR-MBR Michael Brantley – Cleveland Indians (bat) and a couple buy backs. My question is can we send buy backs to Topps and receive the actual card unstamped??

I just open 2 10 packs boxes for Walmart and pulled a MLB Debut Relics cars out of the signal card Pack. Plus I open 2 74 card Pack from Walmart and pulled out a World Series Relics card from one of them.

The 2 10 Parks Boxes and 2 74 card parks from Target was not the good.

Over All I like this set a lot. I just got back into collecting with 2015 after a 20+ year brake.

Did a box got a chrome auto j r murphy buyback. Did not make a set out of jumbo. Nice long looking. I guess you can get anything that topps in a buyback. Happy bday topps 65 years young.

Just broke a case of jumbo. Nice clean parallels, good run of silver and blue buybacks for my case. And pulled three negative parallels from one case.

The negative parallels are being listed with pretty high prices on eBay. Any idea what the print run/pack odds are for these?

Got mine today… usual clean cut inserts and nice looking Base cards. Everyone cant afford the high dollar stuff.. for the money this is a great product

I guess any Oakland A’s autographs, relics or any other subsets will be in Topps MINOR league set, eh? Maybe Topps should include the catagory of “most likely to be traded to a contender ” subset. That would be full of A’s players…

Do you know if these cards are going to have the “Smoke” that appears to be on them from this preview? I really hope this is just on the mock ups. I like the overall design a lot other than that!

Why are there no Mickey Mantle insert cards? No Mantle/Maris Back-to-Back insert card? Haven’t seen a Mantle insert card in a while.

When it says hobby exclusive does that mean only regular hobby boxes or does it also include the jumbo boxes?

Design is much cleaner than last years and insert subsets look way better. After looking at the checklist I’m really curious what the “Wacky Promo” cards are… They sound interesting

I like the design its really beautiful i like it a lot it`s very nice. Please show me any other designs for the 2016 topps baseball series 1 then ill deside which one i like the best.

This design is so much better than this year’s version. Hopefully it will also help distinguish inserts like the rainbow foil from the base version.
