Capitalizing on the tremendous success of the 2015 set, 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey largely picks up where it left off with another promotional release. Packs are available for purchase at participating Tim Hortons locations beginning on September 21.
Just like last year, 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey packs are exclusive to Canadian locations. Those that make a drink purchase can buy individual packs for $1 CAD and the packs go for $1.99 CAD without a paid beverage.

In addition to the 100-card base set, regular inserts include lenticular Franchise Force, acetate Clear Cut Phenoms and foil Platinum Profiles. Also, several limited inserts add to the chase factor in 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey. This includes specific prize cards that can be redeemed for the following:
- Sidney Crosby Autographed NHL Icon: 87 copies - 1:107,761 packs
- Nathan MacKinnon Autographed Timbits: 100 copies - 1:93,752 packs
- NHL Autograph: 1,302 total cards - 1:7,200 packs
- NHL Jersey Relic: 5,208 total cards - 1:1,800 packs
- NHL Autograph Jersey: 150 total cards - 1:62,501 packs
Beyond the very limited cards signed cards for Crosby and MacKinnon, the other premium inserts are still quite tough to hit. The NHL Autograph insert includes 15 players, while 18 players comprise the NHL Relic set, including Alex Ovechkin and Connor McDavid. Finally, six cards pair both a relic and signature on the same card with NHL Autograph Jersey.
Collectors can store their set in an official 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey album, available at select locations.
There is also an NPN aspect to 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey as well as a digital format. Full details can be found at the official Collect to Win website along with the complete rules.
The 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey promotion takes place from September 21 to November 2, 2016, or as supplies last. It has been revealed that at least 9,375,200 packs were produced.
Release Date: 9/21/2016

Permit me to allow 5 stars, even before seeing he final checklist, simply for the pleasure to go to the nearby Tim Horton store, meet old friends, have a doughnut and coffee, open a few packs of cards. No stress, just fun.

Will be an other sell out just like last year. but I think they should relax with buying only 1 pack for0.99 and for others 1.99. More or else its for promotion to get you more times into Tims locations just like McDonalds use to do but atleast McDonalds Canada did not hose you like Tims does. McDonalds allowed you to get 5 packs at a time with purchasing a fries or drink or sandwhich or hashbrown, but I guess Tim Hortons is looking after its stock share holders and they need all the profits they can get. As for this years product all are waiting to see how the cards will look and how many you have to collect to get the base set plus lets no forget those inserts cards. Lets hope info will be forth coming soon.
Steve Stathopoulos | Sep 18, 2016 | Reply
Decent low end product comparing to last years set but if they go on sale 3-4 days, we hardly know what the cards look like or even how many base cards and inserts will be to collect, some one even told that they will have a collectors book to put the cards in. is this so can any one vouch it
James | Sep 20, 2016 | Reply
Looking forward to getting Karri Ramo from the Flames! LOL … But otherwise excited for this set again! They really should relax a bit on the pricing, but that’ll only make it sell out sooner..

One of the best sets of the year and so much fun to collect. The hologram cards are A+++++. I already got the three McDavid insert cards.
For the checklist, there is also Pure Gold cards.

Here we go again get your wallets out. On a per box bases of 100 packs will set you back $225.00 and you will be at half way to making a complete sets of all the cards thus on the amount of inserts to collect you will need 3 boxes$675.00) to make a complete master set and then you will have tons of extras cards that you may try to sell like on Ebay but once you consider the listings fees and the fees when a card sell, you may just rethink that idea of buying 3 boxes at cost of 675.00 You are better off at buying the complete master set for under 500.00 as already some are offering at that price or even better yet wait 4-5 months and you will be able to get all the cards from under 250.00 on Ebay or even on Kijiji as it has been proven with past sets like McDonalds Hockey Cards. When thers a hype or a mad dash every one runs to get in through a small door you pay more only to regret it later as you could of bought for less.

Well just spent about 1 hour opening my first box of 100 packs and sorting them out, although I must im going to resale them thought I give collectors a break down to buy by box or buy cards directly online.
Local leaders 1 in 4 packs =got 26
Game Day action 1 in 3 packs =got 32
Pure Gold 1 in 5 packs = got 20
Platunim Profiles 1 in 9 packs = got 11
Clear Cut Phantoms 1 in 16 = got 6
Franchise Force 1 in 24 packs = got 5
Only sets made are Local Leaders and Game Day Action
plus missing 3 cards for base set of 100 cards
As for the rest of sets have to go into second box of 100 packs and hope I don’t get doubles of the cards that I already have. Although im going to resale these have to say to try to collect the rest of the cards that I would need to complete the sets it be cheaper in the long run to buy them one by one online rather then go buy more packs.

Amazing product like last year but like last year,HUGE distribution problem.Didn’t pulled a single Platinum Profiles in a 800 packs case and UD told me they can’t do nothing about it…
Rick | Sep 22, 2016 | Reply
Nice set. Ill just wait till the promo is over and all the guys who bought the cards in bulk are stuck with them lol. I got my complete set last January for $40 hahaha. They are fun to collect though
nick | Sep 22, 2016 | Reply
Now thers someone thinking the smart way. you jump into the hype and you over pay for items only to find out 5-7 months later you can buy for half price, so its every one choice do you wait for later or do you buy now.

Although I haven’t been able too get any packs yet I’m very disappointed that people are getting whole boxes then selling them for profit

I bought some cards from a local Tim’s in and i think i hit a series of error cards. I got the base card for: Mikko Koivu, Brayden Schenn, Ben Bishop, Boone Jenner, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Ryan Miller, and David Krejci. However, my cards are an obvious misprint because the upper deck logo is misaligned and the team name which is usually found at the bottom is MISSING on every card! What should i do with these? I’m not sure how rare they are but i’m certainly not letting them go for cheap.
Mark | Sep 23, 2016 | Reply
Nick,
This is part of card collecting. It is like the stock market when it comes to value.
To really enjoy it, you have to like collecting, maybe make money on some cards, try not to worry about losing money because it will happen (I have complained before).
Not sure if your just a doughnut and coffee guy, but try buying hobby boxes. Upper Deck, “The Cup” is coming out in October and that might cost you $600 dollars for 5 cards and you could still be mad. If you score a McDavid, it is like winning the lottery.
Bob | Sep 24, 2016 | Reply
To Nick,
Sorry you rec’d what you did, with your first box. I guess I got lucky. I bought mine minutes after they went on sale.
My first box:
2 full sets of 100 base cards
3 full sets of ‘Local Leaders’ (checklists)
2 full sets of ‘Gameday Action’
Full set of ‘Pure Gold’
All but 1 of the ‘Platinium Profiles’ set
7 ‘Clear Cut Phenoms’
5 ‘Franchise Force’
11 Doubles
If you do the math, that’s 300 cards.

Pros:
Very nice base cards.
Very nice insert cards.
With 2 base cards and 1 insert per pack, I’ve gotten ~30 packs and I’ve had a nice selection of inserts. Around 20 base card doubles so far.
Completed the online set of 100 using the pack codes and got all prize entries for their draws.
Cons: Printed so early that all the big summer trades/transactions are on the wrong team.
Very bad price. 67 cents per card when paying $2 per pack. Buy a drink for a minimum of $1.43 and then get 1 pack for $1? Wow, great deal. :(
Unless you have an employee in, there’s no way to get these for a good price under $2 per pack.

I love these cards, but it’s impossible to “collect” unless you’re willing to buy by the box load (or be patient, and buy cheap sets later on). I am always left a little disappointed when Tim’s runs out of cards after 9 or 10 days. 48 packs later and I still only have 69 unique base cards… swap meet in Calgary, anyone?
Maggie | Oct 3, 2016 | Reply
Should be more cards in the packs for $2-
Other than that it’s a great set!

Friday night september 30 i walked in a Tim Hortons on Decarie Boulevard near Cote Vertu in the little mall with my 2 kids.. bought 10 packs of cards . 5 for each kids… these were the inserts.. 6 gameday action and 4 local leaders…. obviously there is some searching going on in that store… to avoid if you want to buy cards…
Larry | Oct 4, 2016 | Reply
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the design of both the base and insert cards. For a low-end product, thry look quite sharp and the inserts are really cool. I usually grab one or 2 packs with my coffee every day and haven’t pulled a double of an insert yet. Got 2 platinum profiles, 2 clear cut cards and a FF card plus a bunch of others too. The only thing that bothers me is that it would take a long time to make the base set. It’s not worth it to be honest yet it’s a fun product at a decent price so I’m enjoying it. at least it’s an affordable product unlike most of UD product now.

Again another great set, love the addition of the matching book. I wish Tim Horton’s and Upper Deck would do a better job controlling the black market as I could once again buy full sets on EBay before they were available at my local Tim Horton’s, clearly being fead from the inside.
ALAN O'BRIEN | Oct 8, 2016 | Reply
Four stars excellent product. Would be nice if there were more packs in a box with three regular cards rather than an insert card in every pack. Heard the usual rumours about box searching and packs being weighed. I am sure it happens. A lot of places it is not done however. Yesterday I bought a coffee and 20 packs. Among others I got 3 Franchise Force cards including McDavid. Packs were from different boxes that is probably why.
James | Oct 8, 2016 | Reply
How do you weigh packs though? We’re talking fractions of a gram here.
Because I can’t tell the difference between the Crosby Auto Icon I just pulled and the Giordano Local Leader.
Larry | Oct 9, 2016 | Reply
It’s sad that the hobby is just a money grab. I buy a pack ir two with my daily coffee and am happy with what I get. Buying boxes and weighing cards? Seriously get a life.
Marker | Oct 10, 2016 | Reply
One word-Tim Horton’s-“Fraud”. Apparently if you are a loser in life and weight the packs you can tell the difference with thick FF and CC cards in them. The regular packs weigh 8 grams and the thick packs weigh 9 grams. People buy a box, take out all the good inserts, then replace the good packs with more bum packs and sell the |New boxes” on eBay for $140. I met with a guy yesterday to try and complete my set and he told me all about it. His binder was fully loaded with all I needed. I told him to fo, and get out of my sight. Tims has to do a better job controlling this, its fraud.
Larry | Oct 10, 2016 | Reply
Wow that’s really sad. I will not buy packs unless it’s at a Tim’s but hope that employees aren’t doing the same. I’ve seen people go through retail packs before they buy them at Target looking for the hits and even stories of people taking scales with them. I’ve heard of a few hobby shops and online retailers/sellers weighing packs too but I’d like to think that the majority of dealers are honest and care about the hobby. But I hope UD investigates these fraud cases. Some people really are despicable!

Love this set just like last year. I bought one box off of ebay and got a few good pulls. I recieved the average amount of inserts that is advertised. Unfortunately I did not get a redemption. I have had to purchase several online. I see so many redemptions online and I wonder how people get so many of them! I want to collect as many as I can this year (I only bought 3 last year late in the season, most were gone by then) and people are selling them for much more than what they are valued at. If anyone has any suggestions on what is the best way of collecting this set please let me know, otherwise happy collecting everyone!
Larry | Oct 14, 2016 | Reply
lck… I collect hockey cards because I love the sport and the hobby and its a nice distraction from the chaos that is my life. I like putting together the base sets and some of the insert sets and collecting can be a lot of fun. I like the new Tim’s cards and for the price point they are really nice cards. but unfortunately the hobby is just a money grab now. Hearing stories of people buying boxes, selling the hits and even weighing cards before selling packs is disgusting and not surprising. These people don’t care about the hobby only about making a buck at someone else’s expense. I guess just collect for the enjoyment and if it’s not fun anymore get out. If you buy cards just for the hits or just to make a profit, you should do something else.
Max | Oct 14, 2016 | Reply
Great Set. May be boxes should be factory sealed when you buy them or sell them you lose alot of value when it is not factory sealed.
Jill Noftall | Oct 16, 2016 | Reply
The cards were not available at 3 outlets while traveling to Toronto and back so we missed out on buying 6 packages of cards at the $1 price. We feel this is a ripoff as we bought 3 albums for our grandkids and feel that all Tim Horton shops should carry the cards.

I think this is a pretty good set.I have opened close to 30 packs and have got some good pulls. There must be something going on at the Decarie Tim hortons though, because I got a pack with two base cards inside. It was the one near the walmart.
George W | Oct 19, 2016 | Reply
Went up to Toronto for the Bruins game and bought about 40 packs. Didn’t hit any of the clear cuts but hit for 3 of the Franchise Forces. Doing a really large show in a couple weeks and the hockey collectors go nuts for the Tim’s cards because they’re harder to get here in the states through dealers. One of the few things I can charge a premium on here. Cards are nice, and I got to admit, it was pretty cool sitting there with my husband ripping packs while we ate breakfast or had a beverage. Wish a fast food place here in the states would do something similar.
Larry | Oct 21, 2016 | Reply
All Tim’s stores up here where I live have been sold out of packs for about a week now. When I asked the cashier at a Tim’s why they were sold out so quickly she told me that guys come in and buy boxes of cards at a time. That shouldn’t be happening. No wonder it’s just a rich man’s hobby now. Disgusting!

I love this product. I am a kid and love how I can just go down to my local tims and buy a few packs every other day instead of going all the way to a card shop. Right now I am 8 cards of completing the master set and have been thrilled with the pulls I am getting. Overall a great product!
