Part of their annual tradition at the National, the Panini VIP Party is not just about the chance to mingle with sporting greats like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Mike Tyson at Soldier Field. The real stars of the party for many collectors are the metallic 2015 Panini Gold VIP Party packs. The exclusive set found within these promo packs cover multiple sports and feature autographs and memorabilia cards.
The 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago already has plenty of exclusive cards. In fact, Panini's wrapper redemption set (silver packs) is one of the most popular options each year. However, the Panini Gold VIP Party packs take things to the next level.
Featuring a base set of 100 cards, the 2015 Panini Gold VIP Party set includes stars from basketball, football and baseball. The set is largely organized by sport and the final portion offers a college theme. Many of these are a second option for players covered previously in the checklist in the pro gear. Particularly intriguing to basketball collectors, several key players from the 2015 NBA Draft receive their first cards in the college subset. This includes the top three overall picks, Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor.
Similar to 2014, the chromium base design returns. While the base set is solid, the real gems of the two-card packs are the parallels. Collectors can find base parallels for the entire checklist, including Cracked Ice (#/25), Gold (#/15), Green (#/5) and Black (1/1). All the colorful parallels feature a unique finish and are serial numbered.
Not just limited to base parallels, the Panini VIP Party packs also contain various autograph and relic parallels as well. Red autographs and Blue memorabilia parallel cards are each numbered to 25 or less. There are also Black parallels for both the autographs and relics that are all one-of-one cards.
Additional autographs and memorabilia cards are available in the packs that don't mirror the 2015 Panini Gold VIP Party base design.
