2014 Bowman Inception Baseball Cards

Tough to like a set when there are no players from the team I collect (Brewers).

Bowman Chrome and Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects have evolved into THE seminal brand for rookie speculators. On top of those products, collectors are also exposed to Bowman Sterling, Topps, and Topps Chrome, as well as this beautiful release; Inception. While Bowman Chrome auto rooks have become the market standard… these Inception cards have an elegance and unique appearance typically found in super high-end releases. That multi-color patches aren’t ubiquitous doesn’t bother me, the quality of the check list and the relative affordability of the product carry it forward.
I broke 3 boxes, the last box yielded Frazier, Hanson, Franco & Piscotty autos.
The ’13 release was really sweet, the 2014 product is even better. Great job with every auto being on card, as well!

There is no “case hit” with the Inception product, Brian. It would be a great addition to the 2015 product.

I enjoyed the 2013 Inception more than other premium card releases simply because every box I opened, I got quality players with maybe one throw-in. This year, I’ve opened a few boxes of the 2014, and have seen pretty much the same – quality rookies, with only a throw-in here or there. Sure, this set isn’t going to wow you with huge relics, bat knobs, etc., but what it does, it does well – quality players, quality product, and limited number autographs.

In my opinion, Inception is a better bang for your buck TODAY than Tier-1, Tribute, or Museum Collection. Three years down the road, when some of these rookies have failed to break out, that may change. These rookie-packed sets are always a gamble like that, but at least I know what I’m getting in a $100 hobby box, vs spending $200 on one of those ultra-premium boxes and getting a worthless relic from Didi Gregorious or some other marginal player.

the photos of players on card are too small. Some dont clearly show team logos on player uniform, the backgrounds are oh so boring……

Loved last year’s and think this year’s could be better. Was please with the card design, an improvement from last year, and the players in the set. There were some slight damages on some of the black cards and silver pen signed cards. Also, while I’m not an overtly religious person, James Ramsey signed his relic cards with different scriptures almost making them a type of variation.

Scott- I couldn’t agree more strongly. Likewise, the fact that the manufacturers no longer include checklists in the products is also as frustrating as it is short-sighted.
Topps has lost much of its market share and Topps and UD are both staring up at industry leader Panini…a company that claimed the 1-seed in just 4 years.
If Topps expects to be doing business within 5 years? They’d better think long and hard about deriving a strategy to compete with Panini. Attending to little things, like an advance checklist, would be a fine start.

I do not understand the deal with the checklist releases. All that Topps is doing is hurting the hobby shops pre sales. If people are unsure they want to go in on a box or case(s) until they see a CL Topps is hurting sales. Because prices climb quickly depending on the release once it’s out and that may become the deterent at that point. This Top Secret stuff is a joke. It also hurts Breakers pre sells when people don’t know what the teams are going to have. We all know it’s the basic same people year after year except Rookies and we All know who they are so just get the stupid checklists out already Topps and stop the ridiculous nonsense of keeping it all hush hush until the last minute. Topps is hurting customers and for the sake of what?

Was really hoping to see Tommy La Stella in this. No Braves in the Booklet or dual and Triple. :(

Outside of Bowman, Bowman Chrome, and Bowman Draft, this is one of the best designed products and value for your dollar releases. I bust two cases last year and intend to bust at least 3 this year. Design is even better and the checklist should be deep.

haven’t been a huge fan of Inception, but it is evolving into a nice product. its come a long way from the 2011 Football release….it has all the top players, designs have improved and they have fixed the quirks, chipping, damaged cards seem a thing of the past…i am looking forward to 2014 release..
