2013 Topps Platinum Football Rookie Autographs Short Prints and Guide

2013 Topps Platinum Football Rookie Autographs Short Prints and Guide

2013 Topps Platinum Football is big on glamor and shine. This shows up big time in the Rookie Autographs portion of the set, one of the keys to the release. Every card comes with an on-card signature and a slick Refractor design. There are also a bunch of colorful parallels to add to the chase. Collectors should be warned, though. Some of the top names in the set appear to be short prints with only parallel versions and not basic autographs. While this may help values, it also makes landing them a lot harder.

The 2013 Topps Platinum Football Rookie Autographs checklist is big, coming in at 65 cards. This goes well above the usual 40-or-so names that are standard in most sets, having appeared at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. This means a lot of lower-tier rookies.

Besides basic versions, there are several parallels:

That being said, it looks like distribution isn't equal for all players. Topps has not released specific print run info, but looking at what's popped up from the set thus, several players don't appear to have unnumbered base versions. For the most part, these are the bigger names in the set like E.J. Manual, Eddie Lacy and Geno Smith. Several Topps football products over the past few years have had similar situations.

Below we've got detailed 2013 Topps Platinum Football Rookie Autographs info, including which cards we suspect are short prints. There's also a massive image gallery and a full checklist including team info.

Does any one know about how many base auto cards players sigh?

Regarding the posts R. Benton and comments I am in the same predicament. I have the Geno Smith 2013 Topps Platinum BCA Pink Auto Die Cut. What me and R. Benton would like to know is if there is a print run or what is the appx print run for these cards. I have been researching these for almost a year and a half now and nada. I notice them in 2014 Topps Platinum set and they are 1/1. I know 2013 ones are not that low #d because I have seen 2 other Genos besides mine, but would #/5 make sense? Please let me/us know. Thanks!

I pulled a Markus Wheaton blue auto #’d to 99.

Got two pink ribbon die cuts, Drew Brees and Tyler Eifert, both of which were missing the autographs. The letter designation on the back clearly indicates these are indeed autograph versions: ABMDC. Will Topps replace with the correct cards or am I out of luck?

Chris » It’s an uncorrected error. All are like that.

Thanks to the info! Its much appreciated..I unfortunately have a problem and can’t seem to find any help in regards to finding out how many prints there are of my certain 2013 topps platinum rookie card that I have . So if you know anything about it say if its a rare, or semi rare then any anfo is very much appreciated! I have looked all over the internet and cannot find another one like it!? I see other names like it but not the same name as I have..and it isn’t a numbered card either which also adds to the confusion,..anyways..the card I have is a 2013 topps platinum camo die cut autographed rookie card of ..Eddie lacy. again, Please any help is appreciated. I got a 2013 Topps Platinum Redemption Card: Auto Veteran Refractor Patch Superfractor of Andre Roberts AVP-AR. I dont see his name on your website or on eBay. Rare?

Randal King » This is for the rookie autographs. If you look on the full checklist here, you will see Andre Roberts listed. If it is a Superfractor, it is very rare. They are numbered one-of-one.

And another thing, the camo parallel thing is hideous not to mention weak – to put it nicely. Wore Marine green for 22 years and did so proudly, the thought never crossed my mind to wear a teams ballcap in lieu of my cammie cover. Are we supposed to believe a lame variation is really a tribute to our warfighters? If Topps really wants to recognize the men in uniform, do a commemorative featuring the likes of Pat Tillman, Mike Anderson, Napoleon McCallum, Chad Hennings, Roger Staubach, Rocky Bleier and others who’ve served or at least attended and fulfilled their academy obligations.

Interesting… I have always been a fan of the Platinum line both Topps & Bowman since its inception. Shortprinting select individuals kind of sours the taste on this especially since this years rookie class is comparatively lacking in marquee names. If Topps’ logic was to create a demand based on scarcity, they’ve shot themselves in the foot on this one. I’m now more inclined to stay away from it completely if the odds are that I’d be more likely to possess a collection of lesser names. I don’t care too much for Panini products and all the inserts but Prizm was actually pretty good last year and I just may have to shift preferences.
