A testament to the longevity and popularity of the Star Trek franchise, Rittenhouse's autograph lineup for the franchise continues to grow. Delivering one single autograph and a dual autograph in every box, 2013 Rittenhouse Star Trek TOS Heroes and Villains proves there's still plenty of ground to cover.
The set has 16 new single-signed autographs. They stick with a long-standing design that has been used since the late-90s when the franchise was with SkyBox. While there aren't a lot of huge names for collectors not very familiar with the show, there is William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols.
For many, the big draw is likely the dual autographs, which offer several different combinations. The big card here pairs Shatner with Joan Collins.
Going by numbers, collectors will quickly notice some large gaps. Because of Rittenhouse's strong stance against redemptions (they don't use them), there are times when cards aren't returned in time. As a result, holes are somewhat common, though they're often made up for in future releases. It's like this is a giant living set that continues to grow and evolve.
Besides the regular autographs inserted in packs, 2013 Rittenhouse Star Trek TOS Heroes and Villains also has a pair of autographs given to dealers as case incentives. A Nichelle Nichols autographed relic was given to those ordering three cases. A Leonard Nimoy Silver Signature Series card is the six-case incentive. This card has an all-new design that's highlighted by a black background and a colored autograph.
As with all Rittenhouse products, autographs are on-card.
