2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball Short Prints and Variations Guide

2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball Short Prints and Variations Guide

The 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball short prints list is here. They include 18 photo variations, two Rookie Cup photo variation cards, five Hall of Fame variations plus one short print.

Most of the variations continue with the celebration theme introduced with the 2012 Topps Series 1 Baseball short prints, although this isn't the case for all of them. Just as 2012 Topps Series 1 Baseball had variations for Series 2 cards, several 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball short prints are for Series 1 cards.

Five Hall of Famers are also on the 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball short print variations list. They are most likely intended to draw comparisons to players from the same franchises or with similar accomplishments.

Super rookie Bryce Harper is a short print. The card is not a variation but rather card 661 in the set. For those not wanting to shell out huge amounts for the card, Topps has already announced that a different version of the 661 Bryce Harper will be included in 2012 Topps Baseball factory sets. 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball also has randomly inserted Bryce Harper autographs, which are simply copies of the regular short print with a sticker autograph added to the front.

It looks as though all short prints have been printed in equal or roughly equal numbers, including the Bryce Harper. However, they are also tougher to find. 2012 Topps Series 1 Baseball averaged about five short print variations per hobby case. 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball short prints fall just two or three per case.

I have 3 variations : all without a name on the front of each card. They are #s 168-Beavan,288-Montero, & 320-Holliday. Any info?

I have two number 395 cards. One is johnathan lucroy and the other is rod barajas. I couldn’t find this on the variation list

I believe this is just a numbering error versus a short print variation. Some cards for Barajas are #391 and some are #395.

The RC Cups are still Photo variations of the RC Cup players from series 1. They have done this in past years to the RC Cup players.

Just wanted to add one little correction. Pedroia is standing in foul ground in front of the Red Sox dugout on the first baseline. If he were standing in the outfield, there’s no way that the diamond could be between him and the Green Monster.
