The last time collectors got a full set of new cards was Garbage Pail Kids All-New Series 7, which was released back in 2007. Although there have been some Garbage Pail Kids Flashbacks sets and a small series of magnets to hold long-time fans over, many became hungry for new cards. 2012 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Brand-New Series does just that. It reboots the franchise, taking the gross-out stickers back to their roots.

Drawn in the classic style from the 1980s, 2012 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Brand-New Series boasts a set of 110 sticker cards. As always, they mix disgusting sight gags with the instantly recognizable spoof of the Cabbage Patch Kids. Further fueling the retro charm are puzzle backs. Reality TV mash-ups add current relevance (although one has to wonder how much Snooki and her Jersey Shore crew can be spoofed).

For those who have always dreamed of being a Garbage Pail Kid, rare code redemptions will give collectors the chance. The grand prize is a spot in the next set.

The 2012 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Brand-New Series base set is complimented by five parallel sets: Green, Silver, Black, Gold and Printing Plates. Black parallels and Printing Plates are exclusive to hobby packs.

The iconic Adam Bomb gets his own insert set with Adam Bomb Through History. Other inserts include Motion Cards that use lenticular images, and Mix 'n' Match Stickers that let collectors build custom Garbage Pail Kids. Artists who contributed to 2012 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Brand-New Series also did a handful of sketch cards.

Today, he continues to build sets, go after inserts with cool technologies, chase Montreal Expos and finish off his John Jaha master collection.

Hi Ryan,
Never have I visited this site before.
You seem to know a ton of info on the GPK,s. I am a 36 yr. old Man child LOL.

And I still have my original 1986 3rd 4th and 5th total sets.
I get excited as a school kid, chasing down the ice cream man at 8-9 yrs. old.
Just to get my allowances worth of GPK’s.2 $ got me 4 packs in those days. Along with the ones I mentioned I have quite a substantial amount.
Literally any time I would find them
I’d spend whatever I had In pocket on how ever many I could. Many of the jumbo cards. and many from the early 90’s.

After they rereleased the first series I became so excited I cleaned out my savings and bought as many 20 $ packs as I was able. I never ever had a chance to even experience the first 2 series, only because my mom bought my 1st pack for me. Which I think is awesome. She was like at least you’re reading..

Ok enough Jibber Jabber, Can you possibly help me with a couple of things,? Like locating Some of the sister cards to help fulfill my sets, and this may sound weird but I have cards that have three names. and no name on the check list for that card? Is that a common phenomenon.

Thanks for reading my rants and seeing what you can do to help me help you. Much obliged.
Mark

Mark A Bushop (Fishnut) » Hi Mark,

I’m in much the same boat as you are with regards to tracking down singles. A lot comes from trading. You may have some luck finding some trading partners on the site’s forum. You could also look for other GPK sites like Barren Aaron’s.

Are the third variations you mention the “C” cards from the most recent sets? If so, they were unannounced short prints. We have what details we could gather for the following:

Brand New Series 2
Brand New Series 3

Any advice on which type of boxes or cases to buy when it comes to chase cards, not much of a problem with getting sets, but some of the chase cards are almost impossible to find the only ones I don’t really care about is sketch cards.

This just cracks me up. I remember “collecting” the cards when they first came out and actually came across some when cleaning out some old boxes. Don’t know that these are overly collectible, but they do bring back memories.
