1965 Topps Battle Trading Cards
Product Details
1965 Topps Battle is a bloody and often sensational look at World War II. Like a mash-up of 1962 Topps Civil War News and 1938 Gum Inc. Horrors of War, the set is bold, bloody and beautiful.
The 1965 Topps Battle base set has 66 cards. The first 53 are done in a way to show war "scenes." Much like propaganda posters and the Horrors of War cards, the Axis forces are often depicted more like the over-the-top villains shown in old silent movies. The cards take a piece of truth and amplify them with gore and jaw-dropping scenarios. Card fronts are beautifully painted. It's another Topps set that's highlighted by the work of the legendary Norman Saunders, who is perhaps best known for 1962 Topps Mars Attacks.
The final 14 cards include a pair of checklists and cards highlighting the fighting forces of WWII as well as important Allied leaders.
Card backs come with an illustrated soldier on one side with a lengthy writeup on the other. The background is orange with a white box for the text.
Every pack of 1965 Topps Battle came with a Cloth Emblem card. The 24-card set is considered tough to find in good condition today. Most haven't held up well over the years due to poor printing and bleeding colors. The emblems show logos from different military divisions.

Hi, I live in the UK. When I was a kid I collected “Battle Cards” and have a full collection. However, I notice that cards No. 54 and 62 (US navy and Gen. MacArthur), have been substituted by a British paratrooper and Gen. Montgomery. Did the publishers (Topps), produce a different set of images for the UK market by any chance?
Many thanks.
