Who’s Coming to the 2012 National? Full Autograph Lineup and Schedule
The 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention, the 33rd edition of the hobby's biggest annual event, is starting to take shape. Running August 1-5 in Baltimore, TriStar has announced the full lineup of signers, including specific dates, times and prices.
The 2012 National autograph list is dominated by baseball stars. Highlights include Hall of Famers Ricky Henderson, Rod Carew, Johnny Bench, Ozzie Smith and Bob Gibson. The Orioles are well represented with several signers, which are led by Cal Ripken Jr, Eddie Murray and Frank Robinson. Other notable baseball appearances include Pete Rose, John Smoltz and Jennie Finch.
Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith lead the football greats appearing at the 2012 National. Gale Sayers and Raghib "Rocket" Ismail help kick things off on Wednesday night.
Just a handful of basketball players are appearing at the 2012 National. Dominique Williams, James Worthy, John Havlicek and Gary Payton lead them.
And while three legendary jockeys are signing at the show, Gordie Howe is the lone hockey player scheduled.
Looking at the complete list of details, it's interesting to see some of the fine print certain athletes carry. For example, Robin Yount will not inscribe items with either "The Kid" or "Rockin' Robin." Rod Carew won't autograph single-signed jerseys, Legends magazines or certain prints. Don't bother asking Reggie Jackson to sign "Reginald Martinez Jackson." However, you can ask Darryl Dawkins to sign "Chocolate Thunder." It will just cost you an extra $10 (other inscriptions from Dawkins are free).
