University of Oregon, Panini Announce Exclusive Trading Card Deal

Just as things were getting quiet of the college trading card front, at least as far as licensing agreements go, Panini America and the University of Oregon have announced a deal. The Division I school joins a stable of more than 200 others as Panini exclusives beginning in the spring of 2015.

As part of the deal, Panini will not only include Ducks alumni in their main sets but they'll produce multiple Oregon-only products.

Among the famous Ducks from the past are Hall of Famers Dan Fouts, Norm Van Brocklin, Mel Renfro, Dave Wilcox, Gary Zimmerman, Earl Averill and Joe Gordon. Other notable alumni include Nike CEO Ray Knight, UFC fighter Chael Sonnen, Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk, A-Team creator Stephen J. Cannell and WKRP's Howard Hesseman.

The University of Oregon joins a stable of more than 200 schools Panini has reached exclusive deals with for 2015 and beyond. Others include the University of Texas, the University of Georgia, Mississippi State and the University of Kentucky. Upper Deck has been the lone college card manufacturer since 2010. Thus far, they've only announced a deal with Notre Dame beyond their current CLC deal.
