Unannounced 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball Mini Inserts

While so much of the hobby is geared toward high-end hits and rare autographs, 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter maintains some of its considerable popularity by focusing on the little things. This is literally the case with two unannounced mini inserts.

The two short-printed sets, "Athletic Endeavors" and "Urban Fauna," both have a specific focus and tough odds. Athletic Endeavors looks at less-common recreational activities such as shovel racing or chess boxing. Urban Fauna covers animal life that can be found in a city setting, like squirrels, moths or raccoons. The Urban Fauna cards list the animals by their Latin names, so we provided the more common animal term underneath the card title.

Although mini cards are common in Allen & Ginter, with mini base cards in each pack and a variety of mini inserts that combine to fall 1:5 packs, Athletic Endeavors and Urban Fauna were not disclosed in the preliminary information or on the final checklist. While they might seem like unremarkable cards, they are not an easy pull and only a few of each have surfaced.

The exact odds for each of the limited mini inserts is 1:288 packs, or one per case, and individual cards are selling mostly in the $5 to $10 range. Athletic Endeavors and Urban Fauna mini inserts can be found in both retail and hobby boxes.
