Despite a delay to the regular season and a backlog of sets, the top 2022 MLB rookie cards are still chugging along.
Because it is still very early in the collecting season, the rookie pool has not expanded as much. Nevertheless, there are multiple names worth checking out and more options are expected to make the RC cut as the year progresses.
For licensed 2022 MLB rookie cards, collectors have a variety of Topps (and Bowman) sets issued throughout the year, and possibly into 2023. There are also MLBPA-licensed Panini products. These two card makers supply the bulk of the rookie content.
Other brands offer prospect-driven products without any league or team licensing.
While budget can impact things greatly, baseball card collectors have several annual favorites. One big product line is the flagship Topps MLB series. This includes 2022 Topps Series 1 Baseball, 2022 Topps Series 2 Baseball and the to-be-announced 2022 Topps Update Series Baseball.
These are just a few of the choices as new sets are usually released multiple times per month. Track current and upcoming sets via the New Release Calendar.
The guide below highlights some of the top names that feature the official RC logo in 2022 MLB card sets. As more rookies are revealed by Topps and stars emerge, there will be updates over time.
Players are listed in order of their MLB Draft year or international free agency signing, starting with the most recent. Each player listing also notes his birth year (YOB).
Please note that not all players have appeared in traditional sets with pack-issued rookie cards. In this case, only players that feature the RC logo in Topps' online releases are listed.
