2012 was a good year for rookies in baseball. Heading into the season, Yu Darvish and Yoenis Cespedes were generating a lot of hobby buzz. A short time later, Bryce Harper's arrival in Washington sent the excitement to another level. But then Mike Trout happened and things really blew up. Even with a bumper crop of rookies, the Angels outfielder stood above them all and Mike Trout cards quickly became one of the hobby's benchmarks.
