Axl Rose Among Rockers with Autographs in 2013 Topps Archives Baseball
UPDATE (2/5/2013): Topps announced today via Twitter that Axl Rose, lead singer for Guns N' Roses, has been confirmed for the Heavy Metal Autographs checklist.
2013 Topps Archives Baseball is going to rock -- quite literally. Autographs from some big (and medium) names in the music industry are slated to have autographs in the retro-styled set. Topps has also announced the return of inserts from the recent past for the release.
Heavy Metal Autographs include some notable names, particularly from the 1980s. Dee Snider, Sebastian Bach, Tommy Lee, Kip Winger and Lita Ford are among those participating. Rounding out the checklist is Bobbie Brown, ex-wife of late Warrant singer, Jani Lane. Collectors may recognize her as the girl from the "Cherry Pie" music video. Real Metal parallels are numbered to 25.
Stadium Club is back -- sort of. Topps is resurrecting the brand once again for an additional insert in 2013 Topps Archives Baseball. Other additions include Heavy Metal Autographs, featuring rockers and singers from the 80s and 90s, and a fresh crop of Gallery of Heroes.
Exclusive to hobby packs, Stadium Club Triumvirate Illuminators are die-cut cards based on a design from the late 1990s. Collectors can chase down three players from each team and fit them together to make a three-card panel. Among the pairings is one with Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and the newest Angels slugger -- Josh Hamilton.
The final addition to 2013 Topps Archives Baseball is the return of another 1990s insert: Gallery of Heroes. The stained-glass style cards debuted in 1997 Topps Gallery.
2013 Topps Archives Baseball is slated for release on May 29.
