Tim Lincecum Cards, Rookie Cards and Autographed Memorabilia Guide

Tim Lincecum

Date of Birth: 6/15/1984

Rookie Card Year: 2007

Investment Rating: 6.0

Overview

Tim Lincecum is the ace of the San Francisco Giants pitching staff. He signed with the team after the Giants made him their first round selection pick (tenth overall) in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. However, that was not Linceum's first time being drafted. In the preceding two years, he had been drafted by both the Chicago Cubs (48th round) and the Cleveland Indians (42nd round), each time deciding to return to school and maintain his amateur eligibility. This proved to be a wise decision as his top-ten draft selection warranted a minimum guaranteed contract and made Lincecum a very wealthy young man. While he has had a somewhat extended rough spell, his early dominance has kept Tim Lincecum cards in demand.

He has at his disposal an amazing arsenal of six pitches that he can consistently throw for strikes: two-seam fastball, slider, change-up, curve, four-seam fast ball and a fork-ball. Despite his slight build at 5'11" and 175 lbs, he throws all of his pitches with good velocity. Already a multi-time All-Star,ย  Cy Young Award Winner and World Series Champion, the upside to Lincecum is tremendous. He also tossed a no-hitter leading up to the 2013 All-Star break. Critics worry about his stamina and the ability to endure the grind of a 162-game season given his unorthodox delivery and mechanics. Evidently there was nothing to worry about as has amassed an impressive win-loss record and pitching line.

Tim Lincecum rookie cards were released in 2007. In addition to his cards, Lincecum's autographed items, particularly those related to the 2010 World Series, carry a premium. With two Cy Young Awards to his credit, the sky is the limit for his investment potential. His laid back personality and unique sense of style have also helped make him a hobby favorite. On the fast track to the Hall of Fame, another World Series Championship or Cy Young would almost ensure his induction to the halls of Cooperstown.
