Teemu Selanne cards and autographed memorabilia have an international appeal. Originally from Finland, Selanne is regarded in his home country as a national hero, being the most successful Finn to ever lace up skates in the NHL. While few hockey players besides Wayne Gretzky will ever be household names, Teemu Selanne may come close simply because of his longevity in the NHL. Selanne's career began in 1988 when he was selected with the tenth overall pick by the Winnipeg Jets. He made his NHL debut in October, 1992 and his career has lasted more than 20 years.
Teemu Selanne has just two rookie cards, both produced by Upper Deck in 1991-92. The cards are nearly identical except for the fact that one of the versions is printed in French. Both cards were produced in such quantities that each can be found for just a few dollars. Gem Mint graded examples can be found in the $50 range.
Outgoing and personable, Selanne is a fan favorite. As a result, he has plenty of autographed memorabilia available on the secondary market. His love of the game and love of the fans means that he has always been a willing signer.
