Overview

Maria Sharapova's rapid rise to stardom has been based on much more than her model good looks. Over her career thus far, the former top-ranked WTA player has won approximately four matches for every loss. She has three Grand Slam titles to her credit. With her photogenic presence, Sharapova has gained glamorous endorsement deals with several major companies. With her engaging personality and dedication to charitable causes, Maria Sharapova cards and memorabilia are favorites among tennis fans.

Sharapova has just two rookie cards, both from 2005 Ace Authentic products. However, she has had hundreds of other cards released in ensuing years including dozens of autographs and memorabilia cards. Other popular collectibles are signed copies of the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition that she appeared in, as well as signed tennis balls and color 8x10 photos, particularly those from her championship at Wimbledon in 2004.

Fresh off her win at Wimbledon the previous year, newcomer Ace Authentic took the 2005 National Sports Collectors Convention by storm with 2005 Ace Authentic Debut Edition. Featuring, the seemingly always smiling Sharapova in a post-match victory celebration, this is Sharapova's most iconic and memorable rookie card.

Later in 2005, Ace Authentic featured a higher-end product that had Sharapova's other rookie card. This time she is depicted in dual actions shots: a color foreground photo and a smaller black and white inset. The color contrast makes for a very attractive card.
