Kyle Lowry Rookie Cards Guide

Kyle Lowry

Date of Birth: 3/25/1986
Rookie Card Year: 2006-07
Investment Rating: 7.0

Kyle Lowry might very well be the best NBA player you've never heard of. Okay, made he's not an unknown with big-time basketball fans, but he's definitely slipping under the hobby radar. Playing for the Toronto Raptors will do that to a player who isn't Vince Carter in his prime. But a funny thing has happened over the past couple of years. The Raptors are developing into a strong squad. There are several reasons for that success, but Lowry is one of the biggest. With prices for most Kyle Lowry rookie cards still on the low side, now might be the time to give them a look.

Lowry was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 24th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He was sent to the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline in 2009. The Raptors then picked up the former Villanova standout following the 2012 season. It has been in Toronto where he has become one of the NBA's top point guards.

Kyle Lowry rookie cards are found in 2006-07 products from Upper Deck and Topps. While he does have a handful of high-end options, most aren't. As a result, collectors can find the majority of his rookies for very little. Compounding some of this is the fact that a lot of the cards come from brands without deep roots in the hobby.

Even the top Kyle Lowry rookie cards remain relatively affordable. Top choices include 2006-07 Upper Deck Exquisite, SP Authentic and Bowman Chrome.

It's unlikely that Kyle Lowry cards will ever reach the hobby's elite. Even if the Raptors do well, they're still a team that doesn't get a lot of exposure outside o Canada. However, given the low entry point and low risk, if he's on your radar it might be a good idea to look sooner rather than later.
