While quarterbacks receive a lot of the focus in the NFL, wide receivers are beginning to show more star power on the field and in the hobby. Jordy Nelson is a perfect example of this and is a favorite target for Aaron Rodgers and one the top wide receivers in the NFL. Not yet a hobby star, if he can continue to produce at an elite level, Jordy Nelson rookie card values will take off.
After walking on at Kansas State, Jordy Nelson had a breakout season in his senior year and the NFL came calling. The Green Bay Packers took Nelson early in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft and his rookie season coincided with Aaron Rodgers' first full year as the starter. Although it took a few years for him to carve out a spot with the team, Jordy Nelson has put forth several great seasons and had a huge performance in the team's Super Bowl XLV win. Nelson was finally rewarded with a Pro Bowl selection in 2014 following his third elite season in the past four years.
With nearly 40 Jordy Nelson rookie card choices, collectors have no shortage of options in all price ranges. While there are 14 signed rookie cards, 2008 Exquisite Collection and 2008 Playoff National Treasures are the clear favorites for high-end collectors thanks to the low print runs, on-card autographs and large jersey pieces. Based on the larger print run of 999 copies, 2008 SP Authentic is one of the better values among Jordy Nelson rookie cards and it still possesses many of the attributes of a high-card with an on-card autograph, quality design and jersey piece.
If your budget is more limited, there are plenty of appealing base options that won't cost you too much, including 2008 Upper Deck, Bowman Chrome, Topps Chrome and Finest. First-year autographs are also not out of the question with pre-rookie cards from Sage or Press Pass. While these early releases don't include NFL logos or jerseys, they are generally found for reasonable amounts and most of the Press Pass cards feature on-card autographs.
