Overview
Gary Payton was one of the top point guards of the 1990s and most known for his ferocious defense. Nicknamed "The Glove" for his strong defending, Payton was a fan favorite for multiple franchises. Despite all this, Gary Payton cards and autographs remain relatively inexpensive and make a great budget Hall of Fame addition to any collection.
Gary Payton ended his career as a nine-time NBA All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team nine times. He was also recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. In addition to his lone NBA title, Payton won two gold medals with the 1996 and 2000 Olympic teams. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
Gary Payton has three rookie cards that can all be found for very cheap. Not as common as other stars from this era, Payton's autograph cards are still plentiful enough to keep prices low. However, Gary Payton autographed memorabilia still commands a slight premium.

1990-91 Hoops Gary Payton RC #391
Can you hear me now? Certainly a bizarre image choice for a card and likely one of the few rookie cards to showcase a player with a corded phone. There is a lot going on in this Gary Payton card and most of it is not good.
1990-91 Skybox Gary Payton RC #365
Easily the most colorful Gary Payton rookie card, the rainbow swirl would have worked better without the gold/khaki border. At least he seems ready for the picture, unlike the Hoops version.
