Gary Payton was one of the top point guards of the 1990s and most known for his ferocious defense. Nicknamed "The Glove" for his strong defending, Payton was a fan favorite for multiple franchises. Despite all this, Gary Payton cards and autographs remain relatively inexpensive and make a great budget Hall of Fame addition to any collection.
Gary Payton played collegiate basketball at Oregon State University and was named the 1990 Pac-12 Player of the Year and a first team All-American during his senior season. The same year, Payton was selected second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics. He spent the majority of his career with the Sonics, forming a strong duo with Shawn Kemp.
Later on in his career, Gary Payton was part of the trade that brought Ray Allen to Seattle and sent Payton to the Milwaukee Bucks. From there, he played for some of the powerhouse franchises in the league, chasing a title. After spending time with the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, Payton finally got his NBA championship with the Miami Heat in 2006. He retired after the following season.
Gary Payton ended his career as a nine-time NBA All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team nine times. He was also recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. In addition to his lone NBA title, Payton won two gold medals with the 1996 and 2000 Olympic teams. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

Easily the most colorful Gary Payton rookie card, the rainbow swirl would have worked better without the gold/khaki border. At least he seems ready for the picture, unlike the Hoops version.
