Frank Gore Rookie Cards and Autograph Memorabilia Guide

Frank Gore

Date of Birth: 5/14/1983
Rookie Card Year: 2005
Investment Rating: 6.5

Playing a key role on a resurgent San Francisco 49ers team, Frank Gore cards have gathered some steam. One of the NFL's most consistent running backs, collectors have lots to chase of the University of Miami alumnus.

The 49ers took Gore in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He broke the 1,000 yards rushing barrier five times in his first seven seasons. Gore is already a multi-time Pro Bowl selection. He has a knack for raising his play during big games, including a clutch two-touchdown performance in the 49ers comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons in the 2012 NFC championship game.

There is no shortage of Frank Gore rookie cards. He appears in 40 different sets. Released in 2005, the first Frank Gore cards cover all price ranges. However, as a third round pick, he wasn't a key focus in many high-end sets. As a result, there's solid balance between his low- and high-end rookies.

While one of football's better running backs, Frank Gore cards aren't part of the hobby's elite. At least not yet. A Super Bowl victory and a place on a hot team, though, could lead to strong growth moving forward.

Top Frank Gore Rookie Cards

2005 Leaf Limited Frank Gore RC #212 Autographed Jersey #/100

Just as the brand name implies, this is one of the most limited autographed Frank Gore rookie cards. Serial numbered to just 100 copies, the appeal of the limited quantity is unfortunately offset by the aesthetics of the card. The sticker autograph severely detracts from the card design.

2005 SP Authentic Frank Gore #224 Autographed Jersey #/899

This card may have a higher print run than a lot of other high-end Frank Gore rookies, but it still has lots of appeal. Besides the on-card autograph and patch swatch, there's a lot of history and loyalty behind the SP Authentic name.

2005 Upper Deck Exquisite Frank Gore #93 Autographed Dual Jersey #/199

Frank Gore 2005 UD Exquisite

Featuring dual jersey swatches and an autograph, the card is serial numbered to 199. The gold accents, full-color photo and fonts, make for an attractive card. The Exquisite name also carries a lot of clout behind it.

2005 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Frank Gore RC #216 Autograph #/225

Frank Gore 2005 UD Ultimate Collection

Featuring a large image of Gore in a posed action shot, the card features an on-card autograph and is serial numbered to 225 total copies.

Autograph Guide

Frank Gore Autographed Memorabilia Buying Guide

Below you will find an example of what Frank Gore's authentic signature looks like. This can be used as a first point of reference for determining the legitimacy of autograph memorabilia, but is not a substitute for having your items authenticated by a well-respected professional autograph authentication company. Some of the trusted sources within the sports memorabilia market include the following companies: PSA, JSA, Tristar, and Mounted Memories. Click on any of the images below to view full size photos.

Frank Gore Key Signature Attributes: An authentic Frank Gore signature autograph is very difficult to replicate and will exhibit several distinguishing characteristics. Gore's signature has fluctuated through the years, however, regardless of the item being signed or the time period in which it was signed, look for the following signature features:

Frank Gore Signature Characteristics

  1. The entire signature is written on a slight upward angle of about 15 degrees.
  2. The letter "F" is over-sized in comparison to other letters and contains a small loop at both the top and bottom of the letter.
  3. The letter "r" is legible coming right of off the "F."
  4. The letter "a" is implied and the letter "k" is discernible but consists of a broken pen stroke.
  5. The letter "G" is odd in formation, showing a bit of a hesitation, it contains a, typically, closed loop at the bottom.
  6. The letter "o" is visible but not distinguishable.
  7. A small, slightly curved tail coming of the letter "r" finishes the signature.
