Deion Sanders Cards, Rookie Cards and Autographed Memorabilia Guide

Deion Sanders

Date of Birth: 8/9/1967

Rookie Card Year: 1989

Investment Rating: 6.0

Overview

Deion Sanders is one of the greatest two-sport athletes of all-time. He is the only person to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. The overlapping of the NFL and MLB seasons kept him extremely busy for most of his professional career. He is the pnly person to hit a home run and scored a touch down in the same week. With similar flash, Deion Sanders cards and memorabilia continue to find audiences with both baseball and football fans.

Inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2011, Deion Sanders was an eight-time All-Pro selection. His boisterous personality, and on-field theatrics were characteristic for someone with the nickname of "Prime Time."

Sanders played for five different football teams (Falcons, 49'ers, Cowboys, Redskins,Ravens) and four baseball teams (Yankees, Braves, Reds, Giants). As a result of playing in several large markets, demand for Sanders' autographed memorabilia remains significant long after he has retired. Never one to shy away from the limelight, it only made sense that Sanders would eventually enter the world of broadcasting. As an analyst for the NFL Network, Sanders has maintained his relevance.

Deion Sanders has three rookie cards each for both baseball and football. All were produced in 1989. The timing of his rookie cards is unfortunate because all of them are derived from some of the most over-produced products in the history of the hobby. While this allows collectors to pick them up very inexpensively, they have minimal value. However, Gem Mint examples grading out at a 9.5 or 10 do perform well on the secondary market. Since that time, Sander's has had numerous other trading cards produced including several autograph and memorabilia cards.

the kind of player i want to be like when i grow up

I have collected the rookie cards for FSU players in the NFL since the very first one. Health and age slowed me down about 2005. Wondering which FSU players & former players have the best potential for becoming highly desirable.
