Overview
While the potential was always there, Cam Newton never quite seemed to live up to the hype surrounding his insane athletic ability. However, the 2015 season marked a notable shift in success for both Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. Impressive play and lots of wins have Cam Newton rookie cards surging to the forefront of the hobby.
Cam Newton, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner out of Auburn University, was the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. As a First-Team All-American and two-time NCAA champion, Newton's leadership and athletic abilities made him a highly coveted player. Selected by the Carolina Panthers, Newton was immediately anointed the future of the franchise and given the starting quarterback position.
Never afraid of the spotlight, Newton immediately made an impression and was named the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2011. Cam Newton cards and memorabilia values took off quickly as well. While Newton experienced the ups and downs faced by most NFL players, he appears to have turned the corner in 2015, leading the Panthers on a historic run and taking his cards along for the ride.

A beautifully designed card featuring an over-sized, player-worn jersey patch and on-card signature, National Treasures is the ultimate Cam Newton rookie card. While the base version is limited to just 99 copies, parallels are also available ranging in numbering from 49 to 1-of-1.
2011 Topps Five Star Cam Newton RC #170 Autographed Jersey #/199
Topps' answer to National Treasure and Exquisite, Five Star is not far off of that quality or recognition. At 199 copies, it's more plentiful than the National Treasures Cam Newton rookie card, but still rare.
2011 Topps Triple Threads Cam Newton RC #110 Autographed Jersey #/99
Not nearly as appealing as the previous Cam Newton rookies, but equally as limited, Newton's Triple Thread rookie card contains a three-piece jersey swatch and autograph. The signature is on a reflective sticker.
2011 Topps Inception Cam Newton #135 Autographed #/50
A beautiful and artistic card, Inception features a large image of Newton and an on-card autograph. Some may debate its status as an official rookie card as it's part of the Green parallel set. That said, he doesn't appear in the base Rookie Autograph set.

Cam Newton Key Signature Attributes: An authentic Cam Newton signature autograph will exhibit several distinguishing characteristics. Regardless of the type of item signed or when in his career, look for these signature characteristics:
Cam Newton Signature Characteristics
- The entire signature is often written at a slight angle of about 10-15 degrees.
- Featuring very angled line, the letter "C" resembles an open triangle with a small straight line on the top tail.
- The letter "C" is used to cross a very narrow letter "a."
- Several letters are not legible and instead implied.
- The only other discernible letter is "t" which is crossed with a dramatic flair.
- He almost always includes the inscription of his jersey number "1" (NFL) or "2" (NCAA).

This article may be a little old, but I just recently got a box of 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures and pulled a Cam Newton Rookie Recruits NFL Shield Patch 1 of 1. Im debating whether to sell it or not, but I dont know anybody who collects Cam. Do you know anybody who would really be interested in this? Thanks
